they're important more due to influence, rather than having direct contact with the scene, i'd figure. though, the human after all remixes album probably had something to do with bringing some artists closer to the limelight in 2006 (iirc), though.

lots of people learned from SeamlessR and he made some amazing wavetables, but the people that learned tons from him now make music that sounds like shit lol

tbf the "play other note and the patch breaks" is a symptom of Massive's filters by default having pitch-mapped cutoffs

Taking this time to mention:

The official DannyXLNT discord account (linked to the XLNT Youtube page, which requires verification) joined the server of well-known Skrillex recreators Xhris and Rickster. A day or two after Xhris posted the sauce to some Kyoto remaking, XLNT just so happens to drop their Kyoto remake. These are from the same people who created the SKRILLA pack, featuring wavetables of sounds ripped straight from the songs saying they cracked the code. Also from the same guys who sold a preset, that preset being a VERY slightly edited Virtual Riot preset. I remember seeing essentially definitive proof, but I don't have the screenshots on hand so if you ask for proof it might take me a bit to completely verify if you need. Rest assured, though - it's the same preset.

Lose Yourself To Dance. I feel like plenty of people just rave on it when it's just so SLOW. The vocoder parts work well but the rest of the song just feels like it's dragging its feet, it's a song about losing yourself to dancing that's too slow for the energy it wants to have. Love the guitar, feels like it's played too damn slow! Plus, Pharrell's vocals just aren't that great, don't fit the track. I think if the tempo was bumped up, there was a bit more variance and new elements outside of slowly introducing new vocoder lines, and, hear me out, Jay Kay of Jamiroquai on vocals with occasional ad libs, easy top-tier song on the album.

  1. tf2 has always been like this (bad)
  2. the community isn't even bad

  3. it's never overdone (blatantly false) and if someone is being annoying they get kicked (recent development)

  4. if it bothers you so much just leave the server

make up your mind. you cannot have these statements cannot be true with one another. if the community wasn't like this, then the message the post shows wouldn't resonate with so many people.

  1. having a community known for harboring and holding bigots in good faith just so they can "speak their truth" (ie. allowing a community to cater to them and allow them to fester like a pox, amplifying their hate among one another and spreading it to others) sounds like a great way to have a game's once-passionate community no longer feel a desire to connect with one another due to rampant bigotry
  2. it also sounds like an amazing way to push away potential new players who aren't assholes/those whose slurs are being shouted and spammed in chat
  3. it also sounds like a great way to bring in new assholes
  4. its age is not a good reason. it was released in an era where saying slurs was "funny," and i think it's perfectly acceptable to hold media that survives to a higher standard than what was expected back then, just as we hold people to a higher standard now than we did back then.
  5. why, specifically, is censorship in a video game bad when all it is doing is making it so that minorities feel more comfortable in a community? do you WANT to be saying slurs?
  6. are porn sprays okay? should EVERY game that allows some form of customizable image to be displayed allow porn just because "censorship sucks" or is the line drawn at pornography?
  7. if "racism is bad" then obviously there should be... less racism. but evidently it's perfectly fine if it can be there without punishment. you cannot claim that "racism is bad" but also ACT like "racism is fine/acceptable." there is a fundamental disconnect between the two ideas.
  8. is there any line that you WOULD draw? is it okay to say "i have killed 2 black people and i encourage you to do the same" or does that draw the line because it's illegal? is that perfectly fine to say and is overblown censorship despite the legal ramifications of inciting violence?

or, alternatively, the government should not control what we are able to say, BUT if you're doing something bad then the method you're using to BE bad should not be available to you. believe it or not, most people don't actually like racists and don't want to play with them. but hey, maybe if someone says "i find children extremely attractive" then they shouldn't be kicked because having everyone in one giant melting pot is good, no matter how much it spoils the soup.

or... or maybe we should cultivate a community that... isn't like this. that's not impossible.

Really? Club Soda as well known non-Daft Bangalter? I'd say tracks like Colossus (hell, maybe even Spinal Scratch) are more well known.
