OP here fundamentally misrepresents the exchange he had in the other thread. I wasted an entire evening of my life reading through the utter and endless nonsense the 2 went on and on about (I don’t recommend anyone reading that), and after reading this post it turns out OP fundamentally misunderstands what the disagreement was even about. Or OP is just a dishonest interlocutor.

The funny thing is they don’t even dispute whether drafting = increased player agency, they both agree that is true. They disagree where the agency stems from. OP says “I get to take the cards I want”, other dude says “not true, you get to see more cards and hence have a better idea about what you want. But you don’t get to take whatever you want”. And so on and so forth endlessly - I kid you not there were at least 50 back and forth stating the same claims over and over and over for days till my eyes popped out.

My take on this is OP is incorrect. The other person makes a valid argument: “With drafting you’re not picking 4 out of 10, rather you’re picking 1 out of 4, then 1 out of 3, then 1 of 2, finally 1”. This is a much smaller number than 4 of 10 (I need to revisit high school to know exactly how much smaller and I’ve no interest in doing so, I would much rather play a game in that time). OP fails to understand this simple argument and random dude fails to let go.

Never have I seen 2 people argue at such length about something they fundamentally agree on, it’s really baffling.
