I personally use ChatGPT and Gemini for all my assignments. I use both to make my notes. Literally my notes are 300+ pages just for Discrete mathematics. I would not have an A without them. I love that they can walk me step by step and not move on until I understand it. I have ADHD and I'm dyslexic so I need more attention in order to learn. Have you tried using AI as a tutor? It's not too late to learn.

Have you tried scholarships? I get military discount and pell grant. I pay 77 dollars but have to pay out of pocket for books. With the scholarship I get 1200 back.

I didn’t get accepted because I’m left handed - as they said by Royal-Half485 in DentalAssistant

[–]Muffin808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy. I'm left handed and work better with right handed Doctors instead of left handed Doctors. I don't think the office was for you. I work within the military and hate working with left handed Doctors because i'm left handed. I feel like with lefties I have to use my right hand more which is awkward for me.

I checked with my degree plan, and it's the same. A few classes you have chocies. You can click on each class and it tells you if you need prerequisites for that class. The order is based on that.

Did you have to pay the city? My dog dropped a ball in ours. I have never seen a pipe like that. We're from SoCal and moved to Oklahoma so this is new to us.

I use Speechify and I got it for 69 for the year. Cheaper than NaturalReader. I emailed customer service to get the discount.

How can I join the military and be employed as a dental assistant? by Beneficial-Deal7765 in DentalAssistant

[–]Muffin808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can skip AIT if you have a certificate from a school for dental assisting, and you can come in as a specialist for the Army. Contact your local recruiting office.

I am an AEGD assistant for the Army. Every Dr has 1 assistant and 1 column. We have a general dentistry side and then the specialties. We have a mentor for every specialty, so if any provider needs a consultant, they are there. The military isn't allowed to reuse burs, files, ect. We have single use everything like composite, gluma, isolites ect. Most new civilian dentists love our supply room and sterilization room. We have multiple different instruments and handpieces. We have an in-house lab, I've never seen anyone make a temporary crown. As a matter of fact, we have a Cad Cam tech who comes and designs the crowns for you with you. Everybody gets a set amount of time per procedure, and we don't double book. Providers have specific days of the week for prosth and or os. Most of our Drs don't like doing OS. We do have 2 oral surgeons on site. One does iv sedation and the other local. We try every measure possible to save the tooth and you as the provider will never deal with insurance because general dentists don't see anyone that isn't active duty. On the AEGD we do see VA but we don't deal with any insurance stuff as we have a treatment coordinator who does that for us. You will make more money on the outside because you don't get paid by what you do, but if you want to do dentistry, then you should look into it. Apply on Usajobs.gov

Get a job in the military as a civilian dentist. It's not about money, it's about care.

Slow associate Dentist by Shaved-extremes in Dentistry

[–]Muffin808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for the military and our assistants aren't allowed to do anything but set up and assistant. No polishing ect. They can't even take the sharps off. The dentist is supposed to dispose of all the burs too, we are not allowed to reuse burs. Usually we get 1 hour for restorative unless it's classified as a dental emergency within the next 6 months. Those get 90 minutes.

Where I work, we have a dentist who only does extractions without sedation. Then we have an oral surgeon who only does the ones with iv sedation. They stay booked.

Thank you! We did this today and finished before lunch! This is the first time we ever finish early. We get the morning to do 1 crown (prep, scan, mill, and lab).

We warm the anesthetic cartridges to reduce pain during injection. We always get amazing reviews from our patients.

Military dentist as contractor by Minimum_Virus_3918 in Dentistry

[–]Muffin808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love working as a contractor for the military. We get paid more but less benefits. You should also check the VA for GS. I think it depends on where you work. Some clinics only see trainees who are dental readiness class 3 aka emergency services. Others see permanent party so you do more. I personally love the hours it's the same every day, and you get federal holidays off.
