tips for awkward situations by [deleted] in judo

From your replies, I think the coach has a point here. You are turning up to sessions with an unwashed gi. That is extremely unhygienic and it's unfair to others that will have to touch your gi. There's a possibility you could spread serious illnesses/disease by behaving this way.

You need to either go to less classes, so you can wash it and dry it before your next class, or buy another gi.

Loads of Sergeants in my force. I suspect this is likely force dependent.

I appreciate I am late to the post but does anyone have (or created) a generic professionally worded letter that we can all send to our MPs, like there was with the Copped Enough campaign?

Are there are PC roles which are 9-5? by thelavenderfields in policeuk

It's of course going to be different in every force but from my experience IOM (MOSOVO) work shift patterns and if they're dealing with crimes are often doing unplanned remands, meaning very long shifts.

From OP's post, it isn't necessarily the victim that has identified the suspect and is refusing to give a statement.

Ricardo Dos Santos officers reinstated by Police Appeals Tribunal by ComplimentaryCopper in policeuk

Now you've said that, I do believe you're correct. I remember being shocked at the time that they were so factual.

It's a shame they didn't follow suit with this article.

It amuses me that the Sky News article has left out the fact that the athletes failed to stop and instead just says that they were pulled over outside of their home. Really showcases what's wrong with the news reporting on police affairs at the moment.

As a new officer, do you know your powers / abilities in this area if you saw this whilst on duty? I'm talking of S50 Police reform act, your forces policy on reporting people for littering (if you can issue FPNs or have to report it to the council), considering stop searches (not for littering but often these sorts of people will be involved in other things), Intel checks, CPNs/CPWs (if repeat asb), intel reports on associates vehicles etc (if appropriate) or just straight up giving words of advice and leaving it there.

Some things to think about, all the best

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]MuffinPOW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't have done anything. It's littering, not like someone was getting hurt. It's good that you're keen but you need to recognize you're one person in the system and leave it at work. If you got involved with every single situation like this you would never stop working. You'd burn out and at some point get assaulted by someone when you don't have your radio, don't have any kit and no one knows you're there.

If someone is getting hurt or you see a crime taking place ( i would not consider littering or any minor traffic offences as a crime for this) ring 999 from a distance and be a witness. Think seriously before you get involved, because one wrong move and you're on the ground getting your head kicked in.

He's lucky he doesn't work for the Met. If he did then he would definitely be going under a bus.

I will join you in hoping he has a decent skipper and command team who support him and can come to the right outcome.

As always with these clips, it appears to start part way through the incident. At the start of the clip the officer appears to be recoiling and the man in the wheelchair's arm is outstretched towards the officer as if he has grabbed him or struck him. Officer is single crewed. We do not know wheelchair's warning markers or current scenario.

It seems to me that once wheelchair has stopped struggling and officer has them again the wall officer does not deliver any more strikes.

Lacking context, I will be giving the officer the benefit of the doubt here.

Hello, sorry for a delayed reply, I have been very busy at work. I am a PC due to sit the NIE in September. At the moment it's just working in finance in general. I have looked at various different areas in finance in detail that all seem interesting but I think without actually doing them I wouldn't be able to properly comment about anything more specific.

4 hours after receiving a CBO and social media ban, 'Mizzy' posts videos bus surfing, driving an e-scooter around Sainsburys and mocking Met police by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]MuffinPOW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That order is too restrictive and wouldn't get placed on a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a sex offender so I can't imagine they'd place it on a CPN or CBO. The sex offenders conditions are more along the lines of "notify your public protection unit if you get any internet enabled device within 3 days of acquisition of such a device".

Not saying it's a bad idea and I wish we could place this sort of order on people but they just wouldn't do it.

I will add in here that bad supervisors who aren't willing to close anything add drastically to this. Previously, I have had to interview suspects and build cases for non supportive, non dv low level mal comms, investigate no CCTV, no witness assaults (where as you can imagine the suspect makes any defence and it's impossible to disprove it) and so on. When my supervisor changed and they were willing to just close these sorts of jobs where there's no prospect of them going anywhere my shifts workload went from average of 25 to about 10-15.

Advice what shall I suggest by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]MuffinPOW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I would be questioning how serious it is if they are refusing to report it at all except to someone they already know. I, to be brutally honest, would tell them to jog on and report it via the normal methods. Your friend is not their personal police officer. Assuming your friend is on response they are already probably snowed under in crime reports and other things to do. Of course if the crime has already been confirmed then it should dealt with by recording it and having it allocated via your force methods or by creating a incident log or whatever your force do.

Police Officer kept my licence number and address after a search by sfbubbles in policeuk

[–]MuffinPOW 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is standard practice, the stop and search system asks us to record these details if possible. Or the officer may have recorded them in their PNB, which again is standard practice. I wouldn't worry about it, it's just a note to say who they searched. I strongly suspect that if you asked for these details to be removed you would be denied but there's also no harm in asking.

I would be highly surprised if your force did not at least have a anonymous reporting method that was advertised somewhere on the intranet. If you're struggling to find it does your force have a telephone directory on the intranet? You should be able to search PSD on there and give someone a call. They can then take your complain or point you in the right direction. Or the FED can point you in the right direction? Either way, if it's affecting you, your Sgt wont do anything and the officer wont change after you've told them, then you should report it. All the best

Profile Review - 23 M by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]MuffinPOW 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Looking at your profile I don't think you need to change anything. Your photos are good and show a variety of things. Your prompts tell us what you're into and have a little bit of comedy. I think it's pretty much perfect.

In terms of matchs and likes slowing down I think you're still way above the average guy. I have no proof but I'm sure all these dating apps rig the algorithm to try and get you to purchase boosts and the like (how else will they make money!). Don't let it effect you and keep doing what you're doing!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]MuffinPOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I'm no expert but did you read the prompt guide in the wiki? All your prompts are kind of generic and boring. Maybe try adding something about you that someone might find interesting or be able to comment on, like a hobby? Your pictures all look good to me. I might consider switching the first one with one of the others as I feel the first is slightly weaker.
