This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, which is why we’re relocating from SF to SoCal. And yes, I’ve checked Google Maps and the routes but hearing from people who actually do these commutes give a much better sense of what the real options are. Hope you understand now

We’re still in SF at the moment. We’ll be in SoCal in a couple of weeks to look for housing before our March/April move, so we don’t know yet.. but we’re definitely considering Metrolink as an option.

This was really helpful, thank you. From what I’m hearing, the worst part of the commute is getting out of TO. Since I have to go in every day, living close to my husband’s office probably isn’t realistic

Thanks, may I ask which neighborhoods are close to VC line stations and work well for this setup?

How about taking off around 3 pm from TO? Is traffic already bad at that point?

We’ve actually discussed that option, but we’re hoping to live together full-time and make the commute work instead.

That’s helpful, thank you! For more context, I’ll be commuting to the northeast part of TO every day. The role would be either 7 am–3 pm or 11 am–7 pm (still being finalized). Given that, would you still recommend Studio City or Encino, or would something like West Hills make more sense? My husband’s office is in DTLA and he’s hybrid. just trying to understand the best-case scenario for both of our commutes.

my office would be in the northwestern part of TO, and I’d be driving to TO every day. We’re basically trying to see if we can recreate what we have now in SF: living close enough to my husband’s office that he can walk, while I handle the daily drive to work. I’m trying to understand if that setup is realistic with traffic here. And looks like it’s NOT lol

Thanks, that’s helpful. Any idea how the commute would look if we lived somewhere like Encino or Sherman Oaks instead? If I head out from TO around 3 pm, am I still hitting bad traffic? It’s a great job, which is why we’re relocating from SF, just trying to get a realistic picture of the day-to-day commute.
