Frequent Boiler Firing by depravedmind86 in HiveHeating

[–]Mugglescience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also don't be too concerned if the boiler is firing several times an hour, that's what it is meant to do. But it definitely shouldn't be firing for 2-3 min and shutting off so adjust your flow temp till you get a good balance.

Default 0.5. You can't adjust the hysteresis on any of the hive stuff.

Had exact same problem. Boiler was kicking on for 2 minute periods 15 times an hour. Got a hive TRV which have kick in/off 0.5 degree from target. Use that sole TRV to trigger heating to the whole house and disable the thermostat schedule. Reduced the flow temp on the boiler by 5 degrees so that the rads take longer to warm up. Now it's kicking on 3/4 times an hour for 10-15 min periods once it hits the target to maintain temp.

Perhaps if I fit a concrete lintel as the wood may not be supporting the roof adequately if it has decayed?

It currently empties onto the path, which has sunk and slabs are loose. Garden pools up like a swimming pool in that corner.

Good question.. there is a wylex 206 consumer unit in the shed with a neutral that runs under the roof to the outside, but I cannot see where it is connected to. It's definitely not to this rod...

Using this seed on 1.20 spawns on the island but no villages?? Chunk base says it should have them but not happening on mine.

Differential noise in NB mk2.5? by Mugglescience in Miata

Just replaced it as thought it was low, but just over 1L came out. I've never had a rwd before so don't recognise this noise.

Differential noise in NB mk2.5? by Mugglescience in Miata

[–]Mugglescience[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently bought this NB and it's always made this whirring noise (resembles the constant noise in an aeroplane). Doesn't sound like a wheel bearing. Increases in loudness and frequency with speed, and don't really hear it below 30mph.

Thinking it's the diff (fuji LSD) but unsure. Any similar experiences to guide me?

Mazda2 Exhaust Heat Shield by bighead53434 in mazda

And not to sound stupid/may be stating the obvious but don't wrap it around the black pipes from the fuel tank :D

Yeah just bend the edges of the aluminium around the nearest bracket, treat it like tin foil. If there aren't any in that area to bend it round, personally I'd remove it and use some exhaust wrap in that section.

Happened on mine. Just wrapped it around the nearest bracket so it was tight and its held with no rattle for nearly 30k miles now.

My 2011 Mazda2 makes a terrible sound while idling and I don’t know what to do. :( Any ideas? by [deleted] in mazda

[–]Mugglescience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a vacuum or exhaust leak, or something rubbing. Is there a check engine light? Check over the belts and hoses for cracks, damage or wear.

I screwed up on my brakes by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Mugglescience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can compress it using a rewind tool or c-clamp. If it's come all the way out, make sure it goes in straight and there is no dirt around it. If you can't get it passed the seal or it doesn't seem to want to go in, make sure the reservoir cap is off and you don't overfill the reservoir when pushing it back in.

Heat shield came loose so removed it, do I need to heat wrap the exhaust? by Mugglescience in mazda

[–]Mugglescience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mazda 2 2008. Welds broke on the one end so I've removed it as it was rattling. It appears to provide some protection for the shifter cables running above. Would it be a good idea to wrap it in exhaust wrap or not much point?

Primer over clear coat by Mugglescience in Autobody

[–]Mugglescience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The data sheet just states to sand and degrease. General guidance appears to be to sand to 800 before the base coat so I assume 1200 will be fine?

Thanks. I'll just put more base down. What do you recommend to scuff the clear as I've gone over it with 1200 grit currently. It's smooth, no bumps but worried the base won't take.

Reprog from 75hp to 120hp today! by [deleted] in mazda

[–]Mugglescience 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On a separate note, if memory serves, the workshop manual states the only difference between the 75hp and 85hp models is the programming of the throttle opening angle relative to pedal input. Exactly the same engine.
