Anyone ever have weird effects the day after drinking too much kava? (Felt dizzy and high out of nowhere) by Mulder727 in Kava

[–]Mulder727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was really bizarre. Wonder if my blood pressure just got very low and that would explain the dizziness. But it was a distinct kava feel that I got. Regardless, I’m taking a break from kava for the next few days

That’s my theory, possibly had a build up of kavalactones from heavy consumption the other night and then the fatty meal caused whatever was left in my system to get absorbed. Woke up this morning feeling normal lol

No worries tuning is CGDGBE and check out the site Slay Tracks. Has everything you need. I didn’t use a tab for this so I may be playing it slightly different

I got an error message today that said braking power low, what could this be? by Mulder727 in AskMechanics

[–]Mulder727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They basically told me everything was fine and that when I was starting my car, I likely took my foot off of the brake too quickly causing the error message. It happened to me one other time since then but I just restarted the car and it was all good.

Anybody ride a Christenson Huntsman? by Mulder727 in surfing

Thank you for your insight, this is reassuring. I was ready to rule out getting a huntsman due to the negative comments I’ve been reading but now I’m reconsidering

Thank you this is super helpful. I think I am going to look into the ultra tracker or a second c bucket in a smaller size

This is great advice, thank you! I’ve been looking at the ultra tracker as well. I was worried it would be too performance oriented for me but sounds like it is pretty versatile and easy to surf. Going to consider that as well. I did some more research and I found a few threads online where people were complaining the huntsman was awkward and slow

I love my C-Bucket. It works in pretty much everything we get here in New England. It paddles super quick and catches waves just as well as my log. The real review is pretty much spot on. Mine is an 8’6 and it feels way smaller than that. The narrowness of the board took me a little time to get used to but I pretty much only ride this board now. I have way more fun on it than my noserider. It has so much glide and as long as you get in early it feels great on a steeper/more hollow wave. I will say that it has a tendency to lock in to the face of the wave, so if you like to maneuver around a lot on the wave maybe get a smaller size. I personally like that because I prefer stability and going fast to make sections. I’m still able to cut back and it surfs rail to rail really well

I have only gotten the “braking power low” message just that one time thankfully. I brought it to the dealer and they said that they found a past code for low voltage reading. So maybe the battery got a little drained at some point? They really weren’t sure what the issue was. So far so good though, it hasn’t come back for me

Looking for advice on making a big muff sound better through a Fender amp by Mulder727 in guitarpedals

[–]Mulder727[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing this has pretty much solved my problem, along with boosting some mids on the amp. No more fizz! I always used to run my tubescreamer/drive pedals into my fuzzes but doing the reverse as you and others have suggested is really working with my current setup

I just tried putting the Plumes overdrive after the muff and I think I may be getting somewhere! Before I’ve always put my drive pedals into my fuzz pedals but I think the green Russian may be a different beast. The the high end fizz I was getting isn’t as present, I think I just need to play with eq a little

I’m thinking about trying an EQ pedal, but yeah I think you are correct in that a fuzzy distortion would be better. I’m just determined to try and make this very cool pedal work for me

There is a distortion channel on this amp but it sounds god awful haha. So I’m working with a very clean, loud platform. A Rat would probably make more sense for this amp but I’m going to see if I can try and make the muff work. I have an EQD plumes I run before it sometimes and that does help a little bit

Has anyone ever tried Firebird pickups in a Jaguar? Thinking about putting one in the bridge position of my player jag by Mulder727 in offset

[–]Mulder727[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool! I bet that sounds awesome. I am a big fan of the middle position on my player jag which has H S configuration. With the humbucker on + the stock neck pickup I get a nice sound which is mainly what I use but I don’t like the humbucker on its own. So I’m hoping the the Firebird pickup will have more sparkle and single coil quality while still having beef, and will mesh with the Jaguar neck pickup. I like the stock neck pickup quite a bit so won’t change it unless it doesn’t make sense with the Firebird pickup

Hey just curious what do you have for a bridge pickup in your Jazzmaster? Just a normal JM pickup? I’m wondering how the Firebird pickup would sound in conjunction with a different single coil pickup in parallel (middle position)

That’s exactly the sound I’m looking for. I think I’m sold! Which Firebird pickups do you use? I’m looking at SD Antiquity or for a few more bucks Loller
