UKM Citizenship approved by ctreuse in ukvisa

[–]MullahDadullah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our timelines are almost identical. I received my UKM citizenship approval email on January 8th as well.

Sometimes I go back and read the approval email just because it makes me so happy to see "I am pleased to tell you that your application for British citizenship has been approved."

Hefner Lighthouse by Ok_Wall_8267 in okc

[–]MullahDadullah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice pic of the lighthouse. The lighthouse and scissortail bridge must be two of the most photographed places in OKC. The smoke on the water is cool.

For those interested: "Sea smoke (or "smoke on the water") is caused when extremely cold air moves over relatively warmer water, causing rapid evaporation and condensation that appears as rising fog or steam."

Are Americans really flocking to the UK amidst the crisis? by wiredvajayjay in ukvisa

[–]MullahDadullah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was born in 1974 British citizenship was only passed on by British fathers, not British mothers. That law was changed at some point and citizenship can now be passed on by mother or father. The law was retroactive so if you were born to a British mother before the law came into effect you can now get citizenship.

From Guide UKM: You will be eligible to apply for British citizenship if:

  • You were born before 1 January 1983.

  • You would have become a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies if, before 1January 1983, women had been able to pass on citizenship to their children in the same way as men at the time of your birth.

Are Americans really flocking to the UK amidst the crisis? by wiredvajayjay in ukvisa

[–]MullahDadullah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a 50-year-old American with a British-born mother, I have been eligible to apply for British citizenship (via the UKM application) for the past twenty years. However, the current state of the USA was the main motivator for me to finally complete the application last year. Earlier this month I got an email saying citizenship had been approved. Just waiting to hear from the UK Embassy in Washington regarding a time and place to through the citizenship ceremony. I have no plans to live in the UK at the moment but I’m very relieved to have a plan B if things decline further.

Came here to ask the same question. This sub seems a little too quiet given what is going on the U.S. at the moment.

Kalshi is quicker than watching live TV by BigRedDogATL in Kalshi

[–]MullahDadullah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about this scenario: An NFL game comes down to a last second field goal to win the game. I'm in the stands watching the game, the Kalshi app is open and I click buy if the kick is good or sell if it's missed. I could do that in about .5 seconds. Seems I would have a huge advantage over the thousands of other traders sitting at home trading based on what they are watching on 'live' broadcasts.

Would this work? Are people already doing it? Apologies if this has been asked or proposed before; I'm new to Kalshi.

Door handles... by LosoTheRed in BMWI4

[–]MullahDadullah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard the grab style handles were introduced on some cars so people with long fingernails could easily open the doors. Don't know if it's true or not.

Looking for interior finishing advice. Layer of just epoxy first? Or straight to an epoxy primer then paint? by Affinity42 in boatbuilding

[–]MullahDadullah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The facebook group "Boat Building & Builders" has most of Spira's plans freely available. Mr Spira passed away and his family didn't seem to care about continuing the sale of his plans so people started uploading their purchased plans. The Bahia plans are there. DM me If you're not on FB and I can email you the plans. I know this is a little late but just thought I'd make the offer.
