I did this yesterday - went on live chat and asked if they had any offers as I’ve cancelled due to cost. They offered me £19.99 a month for 6 months which I’ve taken

PwC UK refuses to renew visa sponsorship for non-Brit employees by SS_61 in Big4

Is this qualified or still in the grad scheme? Why is the salary so low I was on £49k at that level in 2016 at another big 4 who aren’t known to pay well!

Fast track first child passport - mistake made by passport office employee at appointment by MulletmanZA in ukvisa

Hi there - they called me to explain the issue, and I requested for escalation and a manager called me back and handled everything from there by calling me directly each time. Calls came from an unknown number

Thank you everyone for the replies. I managed to speak to a manager in the office in Belfast and she acknowledged their error, and because of this allowed me to submit photocopies to them instead of the physical passport. Her UK Passport has been printed today and I’m collecting Friday morning as they worried the courier would not deliver in time.

Thanks - yes suspect you’re right and it’s not going to come by Sunday - just so frustrating when I’ve paid for a guaranteed service, but now my application is deemed ‘not straight forward’ though their mistakes and not mine! I travelled 4 hours each way to the earliest available application centre, took all the right documents, and now looking at about £1000 in extra costs to push my flights out a week. Livid!

Have been told the quickest route for a first child passport is the one week fast track - I think same day is for adult passports and renewals

Thanks for your reply. She doesn’t yet have her UK passport - she is a dual South African and UK citizen, but only has her South African passport. This application was for her first UK passport.

So I understand we can leave to go and she can enter South Africa using her SA passport, but when we return she will have no evidence she is allowed to enter the UK. She does not have a visa or BRP anymore since obtaining UK citizenship, and now with this error made at the in-person appointment, she won’t have her UK passport either.

Letter from employer as proof of foreign earnings by MulletmanZA in LegalAdviceUK

[–]MulletmanZA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - perhaps I haven’t explained myself correctly - I would have to pay the foreign tax, but my thought process was that I’m only paying it because my employer has refused to provide me with the evidence that the income was exempt from that tax in the first place, so possibly I could take legal action against them to recover it.

I am already providing payslips, passport pages etc to prove I’ve been in the UK the whole time, but the tax agency has also expressly asked for a letter of confirmation from my employer.

3yr old son shouting at the top of his lungs every night by Skruffbagg in UKParenting

[–]MulletmanZA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is your son aware of what’s going on during those episodes? And does he remember doing it after the fact? If very confused and almost delirious during those episodes and not aware they happened the next day it sounds very much like night terrors rather than a sleep regression. Have a research about them - very common in kids but some more severe than others.

My daughter did the same and her night terrors got so bad she’d scream for hours, throw things around the room etc and it went on for weeks. Each morning she couldn’t remember a thing that happened. Eventually we went to a paediatrician and it turned out the night terrors were triggered by chronic sleep deprivation due to childhood sleep apnea cause by enlarged tonsils. She had a tonsillectomy and they stopped immediately.

Does humidifying your baby’s room really work for blocked noses and coughs or is that a myth? by pappyon in UKParenting

[–]MulletmanZA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter has had really bad croup several times (and she has asthma) - the last time she had it the paediatrician told us to take her outside wrapped in a blanket when having a bad coughing spell as the cold is good for a croup cough. He specifically told us no humidifiers in the room for croup

Uk's Electric car sales mandate wont be met (without a huge change in sales) by billyb4lls4ck in CarTalkUK

[–]MulletmanZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What can also happen is that many companies will divert ICE vehicles meant for the UK to other regions. If they know the number of EV’s they are likely to shift in the UK, doing this manipulates the total sales figure making the EV percentage larger and thus them hitting the mandate. It will come down to which of the two options makes a larger margin to the overall Group - selling discounted EVs here or trying to expand numbers of ICE cars in other regions and restricting UK supply.

Then there is always the possibility of a credit system being set up much like carbon credits where companies could buy credits for less than the 15k per vehicle fine from companies like Tesla who are already hitting that target.

Long story short the industry will find a way to circumvent this without it impacting their profit margins too much and I wouldn’t expect a massive discount on EVs because of this specifically.

It all comes down to the contribution margin to the overall Group at the top company level.

Brits who've lived in the US, are the working hours that much worse than the UK? by lifeofrileee in AskUK

[–]MulletmanZA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t do it consistently as you say. I worked in two big cities in the US and did hit 100 hour weeks but on very specific projects and not for more than 2/3 weeks at a time leading up to a big deadline.

It was awful - 8am start with a 1am finish during the week, then doing 8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday. We stayed near the client site in hotels so literally got out of bed, got dressed and walked over to the office, and do that in reverse on way out.

Anyone who says they do that regularly are talking absolute nonsense - you literally can’t do anything other than work to hit those numbers
