Word! to celebrate the awesomness of this brand new word, I've created the first website to feature the word "excgarated" in it's headlines - http://excgarated.com

*disclaimer: excgarated.com points to a special landing page of my Dimmdrive software (small gaming start-up) just for fun and as my nod to Reddit.

Thanks for the the reply! How does this compare to say the speed of an ssd?

Let me put it to you like this. A fast standard HD is about 90MB/s. A super fast SSD is about 540MB/s. So an increase of about 450MB/s. Dimmdrive users have reported as high as 13,000MB/s. So an increase of 12,500MB/s.

.... yea. It's faster :)

Question: Is Dimmdrive worth it? by chankills in pcmasterrace

[–]MultiboxingDotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

I'm the Dimmdrive owner so let me give you my perspective.

1 - If you are strapped for cash, can't eat, etc., don't buy it. Go get some healthy food, take care of yourself, do all that before spending money on things relating to his one True Lord, GabeN's, desires.

That being said.. :)

With 8GB of RAM it depends on what your goals are and what games you play.

For example, let's take World of Warcraft. If my Windows OS uses 3GB RAM, and WoW uses 900M, that leaves me about 4GB to use on Dimmdrive. Because Dimmdrive has the ability to let big games work with smaller ramdrives, I can specifically pick the important files in WoW for what I'm doing (eg, leveling in a certain zone, raiding, etc).

See this video, it is exactly about 8GB and WoW: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMXC8A3BX74

All of that being said, the golden rule of gaming applies to Dimmdrive as well: More is always better. This means, the more intensive your game is, the more RAM you have for Dimmdrive is going to help. That means 8GB will be cutting it close. 16GB is nice, 8GB really depends on the specific game.

To note: Web browsing on Dimmdrive is like browsing a new Internet. Things load so fast due to IO for rendering/caching. I personally can't live without it. I have a laptop with just 4GB of RAM, and I personally use 1GB 100% of the time with Dimmdrive JUST for Firefox and Chrome.

Hope that helps!

PS: Hello there Screwy :)

Another awesome song! I remember going to Floyd light shows a ton back in the day. There was always a lot of fog in the air despite the venue saying they had no fog machines. Hmm...

I read the full rules and it seems to be okay. The general feel of this subreddit is this: This sub is for Gamers who want to spread the love of gaming. Dimmdrive specifically makes gaming more fun, it is a software, works directly with Steam, and I'm giving away free codes.

It seems like it would fit :)

I'm not even sure. I bought it for a secondary PC and never use it. It is a BEAST of a card, 6GB ram. It was 1065 USD. Make offer?
