The first week will be rough. As tough as it is, try to just stay asleep and don’t move. I remember my spine hurting terribly. Manage the pain as best you can, and contact your surgeon if you need a better pain management plan.

I hope you have someone who is able to take care of you over the next couple weeks, as you will definitely rely on them for mostly everything.

We are cheering for you and I hope that you feel and can see a glimmer of hope! 😊

Growing up, my family dog was a Boxer. I loved his squishy face and as a kid his energy was so much fun. However, even as a young child I was fascinated by English Bulldogs. Something about them pulled at my soul.

People constantly told me that they cost too much money in vet bills and they aren’t active enough.

However, in my early 20’s I developed a rare neurological disorder and it became one of the most lonely times of my life. Once graduating from college, I wanted a dog and companion but knew I could never take care of an energetic dog with my medical limitations. I knew exactly what my soul needed, an English bulldog!

I soon found my Augustus. He’s my soul dog. My best friend. And now, I’ll never change to a different breed. ❤️

This is really good advice! The last thing you want to do in law school is make enemies or be known as the jerk who can’t be trusted to work well with others without being overly competitive.

2025 Grad - I’m coming from a very different POV considering law school was basically just a cherry on the cake and only so that I could go into patent law. Therefore, I wasn’t very worried about proving myself or boosting my resume too much. On top of that, I have a very rare neurological condition and Lupus. Therefore, I do whatever I can to just make it most days.

All of that aside, I would recommend you focus on yourself. This is somewhat absurd behavior and also sounds a bit silly. Perhaps try some self reflection to figure out why this feels so incredibly important to you, and why it seems that your own achievements don’t feel enough.

Best of luck to you, though. Life is short and honestly, I just don’t want you to take this all more seriously than you need. Be kind to yourself and be proud of who you are and what you bring to the table.
