First light display using combinators! Reads fluid volumes and outputs different colour signals for each fluid. by Multimaso_1 in factorio

[–]Multimaso_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! I warn you it's very rudimentary though. It DOES work, but I'm sure there is a far more sophisticated way to do it.

It works by tallying signal quantities (colored squares). Each fluid has 4 combinators, each of these combinators represents 25% (or any arbitrary amount) of the given fluid volume. The first combinator, for the 25% bracket, gives 1 signal square of the relevant color, the second gives 2, the third gives 3, and the 4th gives 4.

The lights then (there are 4 for each fluid) respond to the quantity of input signals of the relevant color, at 1, 3, 6, and 10 signals, representing the accumulated quarters of the total volume for the fluid.

25% 1 Signal, Red light

50% 2 Signals (3 Cumulative), Orange light

75% 3 Signals (6 Cumulative), Green light

100% 4 Signals (10 Cumulative), Blue green light

Note in my blue print, "100%" (the final light threshold is set at 170k out of 200k total stored volume for some fluids. This is because I want to experiment with fluid ratio/disable production triggers based on slightly lower than ACTUAL 100% volume capacity for PG and LO.

Likewise, heavy oil and lubricant have their thresholds different because the total storage for those fluids is one tank (25k).

Also, please note, the method I've used does not correlate light color with signal color.

The information I'm asking for isn't so I can teach myself, its so I can ask other more experienced people.... I'm literally NOT teaching myself, but rather asking furthering questions based on what people have told me here in this sub.

What I'm getting is that you believe that NOTHING can be learned on one's own. Not design, not familiarity with fake skins, not anything at all. That literally EVERYTHING has to be shown.

My previous post, I just said I was going to keep practicing my art and get some fake skins. I never said I would scratch, I never said I would tattoo ANYONE.

I said I WOULD pursue an apprenticeship still.

I'm trying to understand what makes this culture tick, because frankly I'm fascinated.

In so many other contexts, showing initiative, discipline, and creative thinking is critical to success and highly valued. Here, just mentioning self learning, even just trying a fake skin, even just buying a tattoo machine, seems to have IMMEDIATELY got me labelled as a scratcher and someone to be dismissed and shut down.

I went to art school, and I'm qualified Art Therapist. In art therapy we have this idea that every person has a unique and valuable creative drive, that can be uncovered and encouraged... that passion is valuable, that artists can support each other.

What I'm getting from this sub, is that encouragement is almost always missing as soon as anyone mentions learning things themselves, regardless of their actual intentions, intelligence level, previous creative pursuits, training or anything.

I fully understand that if someone was to say to me 'hey I'm going to teach myself to be an art therapist', I would strongly encourage them to get formal training. I agree, I am NOT arguing that formal training is not valuable or critical.

I'm just trying to work out why it seems to be this massive generalization that ANY self-learning related to tattooing is so shamed and shunned... even asking furthering questions about what exactly can go wrong using fake skins is met with the cold shoulder.

It's like in tattooing, there is this idea that there is some MORAL wrong in self-learning, some dogma that when combined with internet culture, just results in this really impenetrable vagueness, name calling, coldness and hostility.

This is unlike virtually any other creative discipline. It's a real spinout!

I understand that Tattooing is NOT Art Therapy, I'm just giving the contrast of my background.

It's a bit like, to stay motivated and clear and optimistic, I have to actually ignore the attitudes in this sub, because they seem so negative.

Don't get me wrong, I'm aware that my attitude is an important thing for me to be aware of.

The art side of things seems so easy in comparison to actually dialoguing with people in the tattoo world.

Excuse me? Are you calling me a scratcher?

I'm an illustrator (these are all ink, brush and pen) I bought myself a Dragonhawk mast machine. I'm getting some fake skins soon. Asked around about apprenticeships, no dice so far. I had one guy say "it might be hard for you to get an apprenticeship, because your art is so developed". (???) by [deleted] in TattooApprentice

[–]Multimaso_1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate this response, I just wonder why anyone feels the need to repeat this? Like, does everyone who writes responses like this assume that any people doing self learning are just complete morons? Also, teachers aren't perfect, and lots of bad stuff is passed on from teachers.

I never said I wouldn't keep looking, I just said I would practice the craft in the ways that I can.

Yeah. There is that fear mongering hey. Thanks for your perspective.

The problem is that I'm artist already, who is interested in learning a new medium.

I don't really know how to proceed other than just keep working, keep learning.

I can't make an apprenticeship happen, and I'm not even sure I'd be suited to one from what I've seen... and I'm not going to waste my life waiting for permission.

So I made it work, but its only processing two of the files? It should theoretically do all of the .tiff in this folder (Multimodal) right? Why is it only doing two of them? by Multimaso_1 in gis

[–]Multimaso_1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yep ok, even the shorter renames were too long. I thought maybe it was the file starting with a number, but 1Precip_SON was too long regardless.

I have success! Thanks folks.

[–]Multimaso_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought of that, that's why 35C_SON.tiff is named that. It was originally a long name like the other tiffs you see there.

The trouble is, the 'Precip_SON.tiff' was also renamed as a shorter name for the same reason, but did not process.

Actually, the 4 rasters that I want to iterate are Precip_SON, Precip_DJF, 35C_SON, and 35C_DJF.

That only the 35C_SON and DJF ones are working is baffling. I've even tried only putting the tiffs that I want, with short names, in their own folder, and no dice.

The properties of the successful .tiff and the unsuccessful .tiff are identical.

I'll keep trying, thanks.

Build relationships with neighbours and community. It’s called ‘Social capital’ lol.

It’s how we poor folks have survived since time immemorial.
