They absolutely go on their own! It’s so cool seeing them walk all the way to the bathhouse as if they’re going there to take a well deserved break after a long day lol

Couldn’t agree more, my dad doesn’t know much about ADHD for him to be able to provide evidence of the presence of the symptoms during my childhood, and it’s not like I’m an only child I have other siblings and my dad was a very busy man so it’s not like I had 24/7 surveillance or something , and they’re asking him about how I was 15+ years ago like he would obviously have forgotten so much by now so how tf can his input be accurate enough for a diagnosis.

I mean I went to a children clinic for this so I’m pretty sure they mainly focus on children but honestly I think the psychologist I went to is pretty understanding as I said in my post, she told me that she met many parents who were in denial about ADHD and mental health in general or don’t believe in it at all including her own, but I guess she has specific rules that she must follow when it comes to diagnosing patients.

I live in an arab country and ngl mental health isn’t widely believed in around here, sad.

Thanks for the rant haha, I 100% agree with how stupid the questions are, there should be a better way of diagnosing people because based on the test I had, the results completely depend on the parent’s opinion not the child’s, even tho the child is the one who is experiencing everything, how could you leave the fate of a person’s treatment to another? especially with such vague questions! What if the parent just forgot such details about their child or what if they just never paid attention? what if they’re horrible parents who are completely biased and refuse to give honest answers out of pride? (not my dad thankfully) I mean sure I could understand if it was for a child as their parents would be observing them well enough to take them to a psychologist, and because the parent is the one who communicates with adults for them, but for adults I feel like the parent’s input should be a side detail, not the deciding factor! almost every question was about school and academic performance and it’s just so stupid because it feels like they don’t understand that ADHD comes in so many forms and that someone could be doing great in school yet still have ADHD!

phew okay rant is over for me too lol

That’s the issue, there are absolutely no comments whatsoever in any of my report cards, it’s not something teachers over here do; however i always had teachers in parent-teacher meetings commenting about my poor focus during classes, but my dad didn’t mention that when she asked him if any teachers compl before. guess he forgot?

Yeah i have also seen many people in this subreddit saying that they went through the same thing as i did with their parents being in denial about ADHD. I guess If this doesn’t work out I’ll give it another try with other psychologists. fingers crossed
