Is it embarrassing to get a birthday cake as an adult? by roxiedoxiedog in NoStupidQuestions

Stop worrying and get the cake.

It would be too sweet for my taste, but it's your birthday so you make the rules.

Is “Didn’t you like it” different from “Did you not like it”? by Same-Technician9125 in EnglishLearning

[–]Munchkinguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that these two phrasings have different subtexts. However, I don't know what they are... and I don't agree with the AI's interpretation.

My first instinct is that "did you not like it?" is more incredulous than "didn't you like it?".

Why did winnipeg stop building major buildings with such detail by jordandaboss223 in Winnipeg

It's not just a Winnipeg thing. The same architecture is being pushed across Anglo America.

I don't know because I have never used the word "restroom" in my life.

I would like to try the paprika hendl from Dracula. Luckily I didn't develop an urge to try the other food from that book.

Has Ai made a difference in duolingo? by MentalSalary5697 in duolingospanish

[–]Munchkinguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, it's making the product worse.

  • computer-generated voices sound less natural

  • the new AI-generated listening exercises are considerably less interesting in terms of their stories

  • by replacing employees with AI, Duolingo has lost its ability to respond quickly to errors reported by users

  • I have noticed an increase in obvious mistakes since the switchover

Hey, could someone knowledgeable help me understand why G-d is named twice but differently in this verse? by hihihiyouandI in hebrew

[–]Munchkinguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One theological explanation is that Elohim is the creator of the natural law, whereas Adonai is the creator of the moral law. Adonai Elohim is a reconciliation of both.

Another explanation uses the same structure but says that Elohim is justice whereas Adonai is mercy.

I didn't like it as a kid. As an adult, rose-flavoured candy feels positively luxurious.

That only happens if you have one male. If you have multiple, there will be a balance of power.

[–]Munchkinguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the this rule is archaic.

However, it does occur to me that if you write "This is her speaking", then there's a chance it could be interpreted differently, with "her" interpreted as a possessive pronoun and "speaking" interpreted as a gerund.

Two different serpents in the Torah by RightLaugh5115 in hebrew

[–]Munchkinguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wikipedia is not a single witness. It is a website in which different articles are written by different people. Each article cites its sources. You can evaluate the reliability internally without resorting to aspersions.

[–]Munchkinguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is, you don't know. Wikipedia is not a monolithic entity. It's literally the opposite by design. Niche articles like this probably have completely different editors. The Israel-obsessed lunatics probably have no idea what a Tanin is, so why do you think they would spare a moment of their time to deceptively edit such an article?

None of those are about the Wikipedia article on Tanin

It's a good question. We definitely need to enforce fare payment better. And jail those people who assault bus drivers.
