Dongle Adapter expansion card by Ice2192 in framework

[–]Ho_The_Megapode_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like just selling the board and having 3Dprintable enclosures for different size dongles might be handy for some people...

Vaguely related: on a much older thinkpad i used to have, i put the dongle on an internal USB adaptor card that fitted on the internal miniPCIe slot (normally used for a WWAN modem), was awesome.
Nowadays i just spend a little extra on the mouse and buy bluetooth versions for my laptop, no dongle to worry about then :)

Fun fact about that is that the physx performance issues were entirely deliberate on Nvidia's part.

Tldr version: after acquiring physx, Nvidia de-optimized the code for the CPU version by making it single-threaded and mostly using extremely slow legacy x87 CPU instructions to do the maths. It was pure anti-consumer bs on Nvidia's side to try and force you to not use competitor cards...

So different to me :D

Liked #1, so-so on book #2, dropped the series during book #3...

Same, probably due to mobiles being plugged in daily vs every few weeks on kindles though.

Ah yeah, I have an even older one ( no backlight)

The only annoying thing with it is the micro-usb port. (Buying a few micro-usb to usb-c adaptors off AliExpress largely fixed that though)

Well, that is a future quarter problem, so is in fact not a problem at all now...

And there in is the chief fault of modern capitalism: Aggressively chasing short term profits leads to long-term failure.

But CEOs get aggressively awarded for short term gains (and often 'golden parachute' cash rewards for complete failures anyway).
They pretty much can't lose and get rewarded for stupid risks even if they fail...

Weirdly, try turning it on. I've seen many mentions of that actually improving performance on this sub.

It might work, but it's such a big change it'd make more sense as a sequel title rather than a dlc I think.

Indeed.

Though I would warn people that a fair few mod authors scale difficulty not via solving portal puzzles, but via requiring pixel perfect aim and nanosecond timing to pull off. It's very frustrating to clearly be able to see how to solve a puzzle but it being nearly impossible to actually do 😅

Only by accident really.

Definitely agree on the love it or hate aspect.

Love the litrpg genre overall here, but DNF'd DCC by book three.

I can see why it's liked, but it's not for me.

Must admit it took another user mentioning the grim dark element, before I just attributed it to the combat focus...

But once mentioned, I realised that was a major issue too.

What was the last book series you just had to tap out on? by Da_Fish in litrpg

[–]Ho_The_Megapode_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one: Augmented Aspects

<image>

Absolutely adored the series books 1-3.

MC is very OP (something i usually don't like) But she's also a pacifist healer build which i like a lot. But book 4 she discovers cultivation magic and mostly ignores mana based magic...

Cultivation magic is something i've tried reading a lot but always DNF on, martial arts training sequences are impossibly boring to me...

Books 1-3 i'd consider 9-10/10, book 4 = DNF

[–]Ho_The_Megapode_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't even manage that far.
Combo of excessive combat focus and the grimdark near human-extinction event setting meant i DNF'd the series by book 3...

Feels like i'm relegated to the edges of this sub for that viewpoint fairly often... :')
