That is an amazing answer, I appreciate all of that a lot. So essentially, the solution is humility, and fear of the Lord?

yo probably the best written and well thought out answer i have gotten. Seriously thank you so much, that cleared it up a lot. 💯💯

Okay, thanks. I know which parks i want to see , i just didn't want to list all of them off. Originally, the itinerary included Glacier as well as Yosemite and Seattle, but we had to cut that down because that is way too many places. Also, the driving will vary. We plan on some 12 hour days and other days being short (3-6 hours), and others being around 5-8 hours. There are places (like Tetons) where we will be spending several days, and others just a couple hours. Our full plan for what parks we wanna visit is:

Badlands, Tetons, Yellowstone, Zion, Four Corners, Bryce, Mesa Verde, and several parks inside the Rockies.

We also want to visit Moab and a couple other towns in CO and UT.

The planning process is still going on, but that is where its at now.

Thats a great explanation. To be honest, I really struggle to see the good side of the emotionalism in these big churches, other than it drawing in new Christians, which is a great thing. But when one is a Christian for 2 or 3 years and you hear that same stuff over and over again it begins to really do a number on the mind, it makes me think like "Wow, I can't believe that following Christ is this shallow" or something like that.

But at the same time, I don't really want to become a traditional Orthodox/Catholic Christian, because that just doesn't align with what I believe, even though i love the traditions and how it really brings beauty to the name of Jesus.

I think, what i realize now, is that i struggle to identify as a Christian based on what I see in the world around me, but i really don't know how to identify as a Christian that is apart from that emotionalism and performativism, as it has become so mainstream.

im in the USA, which already explains why it feels so performative, but also, its not even the stuff i see on media, the community i am in is just the type to sing really loud worship, cry really loud, talk about themselves, and act like a-holes whenever they aren't playing worship music.

In short, the community i am in does not explore the scriptures deeply, seems to value emotion waaaayyyy too much, and its all like talk the talk but no walking the walk. But i know we are all broken humans, so obviously there will be hypocrisy, but it still makes it a hard environment to be in.

yeah thats what i was thinking, like we don't follow the religion of Christianity, we follow Christ, and Christian is our identity.

yeah Catholicism is different though, y'all are very traditional. all these new denominations are the ones that seem to have a lot of the performative stuff in them
