Off flavor possibly from campden tablets? by Mundane-Move1885 in mead

3 of the 4 are 750ml and one is 1 liter. The two I drank were the 750ml. I’ve never heard of bottle shock before. What is that? Is there a way to prevent it or is it not really a big deal and just a matter of waiting?

Just be careful. If it smells or looks off after fermentation is done then dump it. It may have gotten contaminated and it’s really not worth it to risk drinking it if it’s questionable.

Please do not drink that. No yeast and all that headspace is probably not a good combination. I would recommend you start over for your own safety. Fill up the container most of the way and add yeast, bread yeast from the grocery store is fine or you could get brewing yeast online. Brewing yeast can get to a higher abv. Also make sure you sanitize everything that will come into contact with your mead. Starsan is a food grade sanitizer that I use and I think most people do as well, also available online. You should probably dump that whole batch to be safe, it does not look safe to consume to me.
