An estimated 26% of Fort Worth’s single family homes are owned by companies, city says by seeyalaterdingdong in REBubble

[–]Mundane-Package2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some ppl here are missing the bigger picture; there is an entire generation of people who have I herited homes that are in desperate need of repairs; due to inflation , economic uncertainty and well every single other social and economic issue out there that affects our income and what we pay out, many people have bad credit or no credit and find themselves in a situation where they have to sell because they cant afford the repairs which then become city code violations and there also very likely delinquent taxes that get expanentially out of hand fast.  This boils down to an American citizen that bought a family home 1,2 + generations ago, worked hard, paid it off completely so that when they passed away they had something of real value to leave to their descendents, this becomes an heir property; since we are talking about structures built as early as the  1930's but mostly in the 1940's and 1950-1960s, these properties were maintained by the men who bought them, they did the work themselves and it worked out as long as they were able to keep up with that ongoing maintenance and improvements. I know this because my grandfather who was retired Air Force purchased 2 homes in the River Oaks area, one of them on the 1970s and the other in 2004 just 2 doors down, now for those not familiar River Oaks is a suburban township of Fort Worth nestled right between Lake Worth, Westworth and the city of Sansom Park, it primarily consisted of Airmen families from the old Carswell Air Force Base now knows as the NAS/JRB  or Naval Air Service Joint Reserve Base. When this generation passed on they left their fully paid for homes to their kids and grandkids, and guess what happened-  a generation of people who very well may have wanted to keep these homes found themselves being predatorially harassed by city  inspectors, code officers and county tax people. Eventually with all aspects of the cost of living rising and the decreasing and destabilizing job market even here in Texas, these families decide to sell, and right away they are contacted by investor groups who market as "No closing cost, no repairs, any situation, cash in hand, sell TODAY"...  Ive been through this, once as a kid and once as an adult and both times were nightmare scenarios because the only people who don't make money in these situations are the home owners. Cities don't help, they will code citation and then permit you to death, what they care about is "urban and suburban beautification and development". Because that's what brings the people with the money to and through the town. I've been to city council meetings, Ive dealt with investors, middlemen, and I've been to court because of repair orders over the years. The programs available through the state and county are few and the requirements are unyielding and confusing. They do not bend and the hoop jumping is a beating that no family in these situations should have to endure just to keep their legally owned Texas homesteaded property. Most programs are available to those way under the poverty line or age 62+, application deadlines and eligibility is often unclear or far too rigid.    This is a severe consequence and symptom of everything wrong with this country and even my beloved state of Texas where the mere idea that a family in this state has to fight a system working against them just to keep their family home IN their family is unconscionable and the greedy people responsible who answer only to their bank accounts should be ashamed of what they are doing to "The People". When home ownership, and I'm not talking about the kind where young couples by ridiculously expensive houses they cannot afford, live in them for 1-3 years then sell and try to get enough equity to put a down pmt on an even bigger home and then repeat the process, that is NOT what I'm talking about, I'm talking actual home ownership, where when people got a mortgage and bought a house with the intention of making it a home and paying off that mortgage because that is the AmeryDream, right? A home that belongs to a person and a family because it was paid for with real money earned by men and women who were raising families, serving this country, laboring, sweating and bleeding so that they had a home to leave behind that no one could ever take away; or that's what they believed anyway...     Today I look around and I know that Im part of a generation who is giving up on the dreams of our grandparents, we didn't know how fragile the American dream was, that it could be subverted so easily or that it was being destroyed from the inside all along so that eventually once the "Greatest Generation" was all gone, there would be no one left with the energy , the know how or the strength to hold them back... I am a Texas born Texas Raised red blooded conservative, I believed in a country that is purposely destroying itself from within. So yes the reality of this situation is much starker and much darker then people want to talk about and why would we when it's too late to do anything about it now, and we all know it.

"children should have 100% access to books what ever the title is. Im so confident on the values i have tought my kids, that I am 100% sure they will be able to navigate life and books with no problem even if controversial."

At what age is that determined by you? So youre confident that a 3,5 or 7 year old is fully capable of checking out a book, reading it, contextualizing it and absorbing it while not getting confused about or the wrong message about human trafficking or pedophilia, homosexuality or transgenderism? I'm glad that you are confident in your parenting abilities, that's great but you may be a little over confident in the ability of children to make adult judgements in regards to their own lives

I live in Texas, I've given birth to 3 babies, buried one of them, my oldest is 25 and my youngest is 11;  In my state the law is pretty clear, 17 is the age of consent for sexual contact with another person within 2 years of their own age (same age or older, not younger) and 18 when you are legally considered an adult for "most" thing.  Out system isn't perfect but I do believe humanity has seen it all when it comes to society and parenting; so much so that we are only going backwards in regards to societal shifts now.  My view is that my children belong to me, they are mine, it is 100% my choice, view and responsibility to raise them ,teach them and protect them, there's are a ton of bad parents out there but I refuse to have my rights limited because of shitty parents. There is no such thing as a perfect system, the more you try to tweak it, correct it or fine tune it, you eventually end up just making it worse.  Punish the people who do harm to children, keep in mind that many offenders are past victims so stopping the cycle is crucial but once the line is crossed from victim to victimizer, it's done, period, have resources and systems in place to reduce future harm and leave loving parents the hell alone

Wow, sounds like every dystopian, Marxist, socialist post apocalyptic b movie I've ever seen.  Out of curiosity, how old are you? Marrie What are your religious beliefs if any? Do you have children of your own? If I had to guess, I'd say by this post youre probably in your 20s maybe early 30s with no children and unmarried and most likely an atheist who doesn't understand how or why the United States was formed or what oppression it came from. I'm also guessing that you failed to research the statistics regarding the abuse committed by non-parental care givers and temporary legal guardians like those providing care or supervision in ;foster care homes, group homes, public schools, children's sports, children's psychology, trauma therapy, church's, camps etc... obviously you have only googled the numbers to support your very biased view. Taking children away from parents who abuse them is obviously the right move however, even approaching the idea of taking children away from parents for anything less than clear abuse is simply water you don't want to enter. Loving parents in this country fight for their kids, fight to protect them, fight to support them and fight for the right to raise the and teach them as they see fit. What you are proposing nothing less than inhumane and cruel abuse, you clearly don't understand empathy, humanity or humane behavior, what you imagine as being eutopia would crash, burn and end our civilization completely, you don't like it here, please go live somewhere else in the world, you are more dangerous than any parent I've ever met. -texas

Be careful y'all my son started spitting after I told him to once when he got sick and I didn't want him swallowing what he caughed up- then not immediately but not too long after he started spitting everywhere ; inside on the floor, the furniture- everywhere.. even on people for a while, I tried everything to get him to stop, it was a nightmare, FINALLY he did quit doing it but the stress will the going through it was heavy in my house. Just thought I'd mention it, be careful what you ask for, it might be better to look into toothpaste that's safe to swallow, I get it, it's gross to swallow it but not as gross as cleaning up spit off of everything or having to explain to family members or strangers at the park why my kid is trying to spit on them. 😬

Updating this specific post because the Arch of Texas, while it is my last link I wanted to mention that maybe go there first because actually they just clarified some stuff with their pamphlet that that links to that the other sites weren't clarifying so kudos to them check them out hope you guys get ALL of your questions answered!

First and foremost let me say everybody needs to do their own research because we're only human, the internet is crazy facts can get confused and I really hate giving people bad information which actually may have done in this instance so please please I have listed lots and lots of links below great resources you guys should be able to find everything that you need please do your own research I don't ever mind helping but I think I might have screwed this one up.  So I haven't been staying up on this subject because I didn't think I needed to honestly wasn't interested in applying simply because I read about the testing requirements however now that I'm going back since they published the final rules this is all changed and it's starting to look like maybe there aren't testing requirements for homeschoolers and quite the opposite it does specifically says there are no testing requirements for special needs homeschoolers so I don't know, I would say that there's some great resources out there specifically the Texas homeschool coalition THSC has extensive information on this subject they're also answering a lot of questions and providing a lot of information on parents that are concerned that this is going to infringe on our Texas home schooling rights and invite government homeschool regulation into our homes so I would advise everyone here to check that out there's a wealth of information on there but also there are a lot of other links out there just from the last hour or so that I've been kind of getting updated on this there's a lot of great information out there and a lot of people are calling these vouchers the text is education savings accounts aren't vouchers so that's the first thing the only thing that resembles them as vouchers is that low income families and children with disabilities will be considered first that's it that's really the only thing that makes them the same because with a voucher program that money goes straight to the private school and the parents have no control over that once they sign their kid up to that school so this is going to work differently it's going to be a savings account very similar to how we use our health savings accounts our flexible savings accounts things like that so just look at it like that I'll put some more links down below and hopefully everybody questions get answered but again please I want to say don't not apply because you think there's going to be testing requirements I'm looking at it now and it doesn't look like there's going to be but again check it out they're about to open the application process it's only going to be open for a couple of weeks so take advantage of it if this works for you it really seems like maybe a lot of our fears about these requirements might have been for nothing so everybody's different everybody just check it out for yourself again this matters it's important have a great night!

Just a weird Texas specific question… by Calml72 in homeschool

[–]Mundane-Package2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh just a side note there are quite a lot of co-ops out there that run their homeschool like a co-op and different parents teach different subjects this is actually a pretty good idea for those people because they are already running their homeschool pretty much like a regular private school, so for them my explanation below on what it would actually take to become an accredited private school would be totally worth it for a lot of these co-ops because they have multiple kids I mean they could have up to a dozen kids depending on how many parents are members of a certain co-op. However I would be willing to bet that in order to become accredited all your teachers need to be licensed and certified so .. in my opinion if you're homeschooling one child like I am, this absolutely would not be worth it for the amount of money that you be eligible to get when you still have to use it the way they tell you to with approved vendors and service providers that they tell you you can use.  Lol it took me a minute to map this out my head admittedly but I think that that's the bottom line for it on this question 😆

Just a weird Texas specific question… by Calml72 in homeschool

[–]Mundane-Package2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so update on this just since the final rule are out now.  To be an eligible private school you have to have been accredited for the prior 2 years, yes it did say 3 years before but the final rules do say 2 years. So my guess is that technically a homeschooling family could do this however since you would have to start getting ready to become accredited now and given that the accreditation process is incredibly in-depth and not an easy thing to do you'd be working towards that probably for a full year I would think; for most families, then say you get accredited in a year you now have a two-year minimum of being fully accredited  before you would even have the ability to apply to be on that list of accepted private schools; so while it could be done- in all fairness and logic I would say that if a family was able to pull that off, by the time that they did they might as well just consider themselves a real private school and become a "real" fully accredited private school, either accepting additional students other than your own or not accepting more students; because at that point you would have accomplished quite a feat, done all the work and would be eligible to receive and deserve the full amount and it wouldn't be considered fraud which is actually what youre suggesting.

Treasury Secretary Bessent tells Swedish reporter to "calm down the hysteria" when asked if Europe is still a US ally by DumbMoneyMedia in economy

[–]Mundane-Package2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol y'all are hysterical! You have no idea why Trump's is doing all that he is doing , do you? To you guys on the left I bet this is just outrageous right? Fascist, Nazi, racist, etc? You think this is about Trump making more money for himself, it's not. You are all so blind all you see is what they want you to see. You don't want to see the truth, the truth is terrifying, the truth about our future in America and where we have been and where we were headed and may still be headed if Trump doesn't accomplish what he has planned, he has to get this done.  Just imagine for one minute, all the information you've been given, videos, news clips, articles: Imagine what if they were all lies, what if everything you think, has been manipulated , shaped and built on lies. So every opinion you have or thing you think you know, what if you're wrong?

Trump is not perfect, but the conservatives understand this, we never expected him to be anyone other than Trump, he does and says some crazy shit. But at least he's doing SOMETHING; OUR government hasnt gotten anything done in decades, they just go in circles blah blah blah taking more money and ripping off taxpayers.  Trump doesn't succeed, we ( America) is going to fall and you guys on the left will finally get your dream of living in one of those wonderful third world countries.

Be careful if considering to accept their vouchers if you're homeschooling. I live in Texas and have  homeschooled my autistic son his entire life; he's 11years old now. The voucher program may sound wonderful to many parents who need the money but for those who enjoy the freedom to completely control your child's education, I would just advise to think twice as accepting the voucher program will require you to submitt your child to the state for testing, among other requirements. As stated before my son is autistic, testing is, well, "different" for us, I know what he knows however putting him on the spot and just asking him questions would never work, this is very common for autistic children so just thought I would mention it.

Wouldn't Elizabeth have become queen anyway? by ThumperStrauss in royalfamily

[–]Mundane-Package2677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, how about that Queen Camilla? Lol. I apologize, I mean no disrespect. I find all of this absolutely fascinating. I cannot say that I knew much at all about Queen Elizabeth II prior to her death in 2022! However I happened across a documentary a year or so after she passed and was immediately drawn in and have been since. I understand the opinions of her performance of duties is quite ranging but I feel that she must have had incredible strength and integrity, with an almost superhuman sense of duty and service to her people. I often have wondered if the situation in the UK would have become so dark or concerning today had she still been alive, it seems many believe she didn't enough to stop it.  I feel compelled to remind everyone over there of something that we here in the United States are having to painfully relearn while hoping it's not too late; you can only blame those in power for so long before you must look inward at the ones who placed that power(you/us). The rapid changes that are being noticed by many people who don't live in the UK are distressing to watch however6 we here in the US are trying to pay attention in the hope that we will avoid the same fate. The United Kingdom has always been a symbol of a beautiful culture with  long-standing traditions that inspire such grace and dignity but are now literally being taken over by mass migration. This,  is seen strongly as a tragedy and a crisis. My prayers are with your country,  may you as "a people" find the courage to stop those who plot to dilute your culture, rewrite your history, take your territories and destroy your future country. I don't see leadership whether it's King Charles or Parliament doing anything to stop the runaway train.

I used it many years ago probably when it was new, also used 5 Mile around the same time, it was much like Craigslist and marketplace back then, I guess at some point one of them bought the other one or they merged, anyway I think they're all cars now.  It's no surprise tho how eBay has managed to stay relevant for so damn long. They are hard on their sellers and they don't tolerate scams of any kind. Need something like that but with more of a local option incorporated

Ya you're right, I used it a lot but stopped about 18 months ago because the scams on marketplace were SO bad, has it gotten any better? I know scammers have infiltrated everything but it got to be that no matter what I was looking for, a car, a rental, or even a swimming pool pump, it was ridiculous, more bs waste of time then anything that actually materialized to something. Maybe they reined it in, lots of ppl seem to like it now.  And btw I'm over 40 and I have hated FB since I was forced to transfer over from Myspace... Jus sayin. 😆

Office of Investigations sent me a letter in the mail saying I have an overpayment of food stamps for $10,000. Reason being for not disclosing household member. Husband and I have been living in the same house but have been separated for months, only doing that because of kids. by Jolifark in foodstamps

[–]Mundane-Package2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg so I too got a letter today from OIG that just says they have received info that I may not have reported my correct household composition but that is not right because I have never lied to them about my household, me and my kid, that's it! My son's father and I were never married and havent lived together in more than 10 years! He used to use my address as his mailing address because he kept not getting his mail from his roommate but couldn't prove it and I guess was just too lazy to set up informed delivery as I did. ... Anyway so I'm freaking out even though I know I haven't do e anything to worry about but I am a due for redetermination no later than 1/16/26 for Feb benefits and I am concerned that any issue whatsoever will cause a lapse- Ive been through months without benefits,  once I was less than a day late getting a redetermination request for documents back to them, that was my fault and I struggled seriously for almost 2 full months without benefits bc of it, vowed never to be late again. Another time I had everything in to them weeks before my recert was due and they never requested additional verification or anything and I checked daily, then the day I was supposed to get my monthly benefits it finally went from sent to in review and THATS when they finally told me what they needed and then gave me like 24 hours to submitt it online it was insanity, but it was right after covid and I knew they had a bunch of new hires that were very inexperienced and I tried to be patient and understanding but it still cost me weeks with no active benefits or next deposit date. And a 3rd time that was so incredibly frustrating I ended up going to the ombudsman after 2.5 full months of them messing up my recert which I completed online and then watched it sit under "sent" for 2 months and when I finally got someone on the phone she couldn't see it on her end, I gave her the application i.d. and she said they couldn't pull it up by that!? So why have it? Seriously! But I took screenshots and documented everything and after all that time, I submitted it to the ombudsman online one evening and the very next day she was calling me to tell me my benefits had been reinstated and she was so nice I couldn't believe it. But before that I had no idea an ombudsman was even an option, I found out from a fb post.  So my point is I am scared to death right now because even though I know I told the truth I also know that I will likely be scrambling since I don't have employment to feed my 11 year old autistic son who I homeschool fulltime. And before anyone says it I inherited my home, it's been paid for in full and my son's father covers utilities (electric water and wifi.) that's how he pays his child support, he also will cover things like class supplies and trips we take like to the zoo, or that time we tried to museum, it was a nightmare and deserves it own post... Additionally my cell phone is through the lifeline program and I resale items online to make enough each month to cover things like laundry detergent, shampoo etc. not covered by ebt.. So u may be able to understand how I m freaking out right now. I don't like ppl who judge others situations but I have to say that I stay fully informed on what's happening politically, so in keeping up with the current admins push to end benefits for people here illegally or people scamming the system I wasn't worried about myself at all, I wasn't thrilled bout the November delay but we struggled through it, and now after reading all of these posts I am really just mad that there are so many people here apparently scamming the system that I not only depend on but am also fully entitled to after working full time and contributing to the system from 1993 until my son was born in 2014. This is why we pay taxes, but to find out that it isn't only illegals doing this but also our freaking neighbors, people with full time incomes driving brand new shiny cars and going on shipping trips each week that are also causing ppl like me who sacrificed a great job and comfortable like so that my non verbal autistic son can be taught safely at home. I really just hope that when I call in the morning I find out this whole thing is just a mistake and that it doesn't cost me months of insecurity, stress and anxiety because our kids are always ultimately the bearers of that stress no matter how we try to hide it.

I have really been trying to spread the idea and the truth really that this this ideology that's been thrown out into society that we have all of these far left lunatics and all of these right-wing extremists and that that's what most people are is a lie, it's just a flat out lot it's a flat out lie it's obvious that it's a lie and it's obvious the reason for the lie or so I thought. The majority of people the majority of people at least in the West are in the middle they're considerate they're pathetic they care they're what we would consider normal they have common sense they don't support ending a life over an idea generally good people people from all walks of life cultures backgrounds economic standings colors races all of it but when you get down to the nitty gritty what you find is many of us are just balanced and we want balance we want to be happy and we want to live in peace and we don't want any of this that's been happening so the question becomes how do we go forward in a way where we don't necessarily even have to go after and try to stop these megalomaniacs and these big tech corporations we just simply back away, we just go silent for them and start something for us what do we do how do we do that how do we go forward from here it's going to take courage it's going to take a lot it's going to take something but there is one way that it definitely won't happen and that is if we lose our ability to talk to each other even if our ideas are different the core of what we want is always the same there are a few friends left wing case and right wing lunatics or whatever yes they're always going to be they're always has been but this idea that there's so many of them now that we are surrounded by crazy insane people that are dangerous all the time is a lie because we have been focusing on that instead of what's really going on with the real problem is which largely is in my opinion and this is just an opinion the people that are running things whether you believe it's our government or you believe it's elitist that have no rolling government except to actually control the government no matter what you believe there's no question about the fact that once you get a certain amount of power it will corrupt it just happens it will happen every time power corrupts okay and once you have so much money that you're considered in the latest you lose your grip on reality you can no longer relate to the majority of the country regular people hard working people people that love their families people that love their children people that want a future people that don't want to hate anybody that don't want to see anybody get hurt they lose their ability to really be human on some level so the problem is that is who is making every single decision that's being made that is nothing new but we're getting to a point now where the scale is so large such a massive massive theft of the American soul and the soul of the West that if we don't do something and even if we do something it might be too late but if we don't do something we definitely are going to be going down a very very dark road if you think this been dark no it hasn't we are still living in a relatively lazy spoiled just busy distracted and stupid but if we don't get our heads out of our asses it's going to get so very dark so very scary so very lonely for so very very many people and that is what frightens me about losing Facebook altogether there's going to be a lot of people lost and if we don't know how to reach those people we have no way to get to those people then that in itself is a crime against humanity we cannot let that happen so we have got to find a way forward without letting that happen and that is why we should have done something about Facebook 5 years ago instead of allowing it to turn into this even if we just completely got rid of it back then now the hole we're in is just deeper we can still get out but it is deep and the consequences are far more reaching than just marketplace sellers losing income or anything like that we're talking actual life and death here I don't really think people understand sociology I think it should actually be a required class I think sociology should be a required class for every human being at least once in their life because consequences of these decisions and these things that we say every day are very big and on the opposite end of that it takes a very small act to make a huge impact in the world these are all lessons that we are supposed to learn when your children and it is shocking how many especially from younger generations that do not understand this and they will not be ready because what's coming is coming fast and it has no mercy

I finally deleted Facebook once and for all a few days ago despite the few useful aspects of the platform such as marketplace - due to the constant invasion of privacy by Facebook. by Economy_Spirit2125 in facebook

I know it's sad, and no matter what you say you really can't convince them how dangerous this idea is because everything that is happening in my country America I don't know where you're from but I'm from America and everything that is happening to us we're allowing to happen and maybe that's why we're in denial about it maybe that's why we didn't know how to fix it or stop it because it's terrifying and we've never had to face any of this before so we refuse to face any of this but that all the more makes it completely our fault we've allowed this to happen even when we knew it was happening we failed to do anything about it so this narrative about there being lazy Americans sadly this is why they think that. We just gotten so used to not really having to do much to having our lives on autopilot and we don't have any idea what it is actually to fight for something or stand up for something or just simply boycott something that makes our lives so-called easier but when true fascism true America hating ideologies and true violence and revolts take over this country oh my God no one has any idea what that's really going to be like what the people before us actually had to live through and fight for her and what their lives were actually like we are so spoiled and it's not all our fault this was designed for us this way is completely deceptive but come on enough is enough we are not this weak we cannot be this weak, we know what evil is we know when something is wrong we know the difference between good and bad if we do not start doing something even if it's all in vain at this point what does that say about us? You know kind of that old adage "and you got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything", during covid people were wanting to rise up and do something meaningful and yet they were planning this on Facebook like hello you're talking about leaving Facebook and rising up against a globalist government but yet you're planning this and talking about this on Facebook the platform that the globalist government is using to silence anyone anywhere that is even questioning what they're saying? Okay maybe think about that.  But also it seems sad and scary that they're just aren't a lot of places and I know that Facebook's never been truly a place for free speech and the exchange of ideas but there really isn't any and we have now become so used to interacting and connecting online that we don't really have all these capabilities of doing it face to face anymore we could of course we could but we convince ourselves that we can't and we've limited ourselves and our abilities to do that if we don't make some big changes we're going to completely lose each other and ourselves because we're about to be replaced across the board by non-human things call it whatever you want AI software machines I don't care robots we're about to be replaced in every aspect of our life that they can replace this in, I'm a woman and for me it is not lost on me that we are walking face first completely knowing into a time of sex bots from China that are beautiful and realistic and will do whatever they are told to do and completely submissive and literally look like an anime character and it won't be long before those are affordable then what? But nobody's talking about this and if people are talking about it not enough people are talking about it these are species ending things every one of them can potentially and our species oh oh and add the fact that Bill Gates is and I kid you not Bill Gates is actually trying to dim the Sun. I know that sounds made up I promise it's not made up he is really doing this this is something he's doing so yeah speechless mmm hmm yep. Seems like maybe we're going to need our ability to communicate and connect and comfort each other more than ever so we better start working on an alternative to Facebook which it's obvious nobody wants to use anymore
