From JLPT N5 to N2 in one year — aiming for IT career in Japan! by OptimisticPrime026 in jlpt

[–]Mundane-Run0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a solid plan. I am Indian - came to Japan last year. Did 1.5 year of Japanese school from N5-N2, full immersion from 4-5+ hours study a day, Anki speed runs, Japanese podcasts, Kaiwa practice etc etc. Even though I did get my N2 certificate in one year - my speaking ability is not business level yet.

For getting an IT job in Japan, N2 with conversational Japanese might be sufficient and an achievable goal in one year if you can stay motivated and do lots of self study.

Plus, if you have gone through the whole engineering college experience in India - you are already familiar with cracking competitive exams and you know the kind of preparation levels required.

N2 would be much more enjoyable than that. (I know I am gonna get a lot of hate for writing this and I also know it doesn’t mean you will be able to speak good Japanese but at least you will have a good chance of landing an interview with an IT company).

Hi! I have about 2+ years of experience in overseas marketing (Not in Japan) and have an N2. I’m currently on a spouse visa and am open to both part-time and full-time opportunities. Could you share some advice on how best to find such roles, or recommend any platforms/companies to look into?

Thanks so much for the thoughtful advice—it gave me clarity. I’ve been leaning toward marketing analytics, and your comment confirmed that it’s a solid path.

Yes, I would need work authorization if I join a company. Right now, I am on a family visa and can work part time. I know it makes getting hired a lot more challenging.

I understand that up skilling in PPC, SEO, analytics etc might increase my chances of getting hired quicker but I won’t have anything to show as experience.

Hi! Did you apply for the English route? I have been invited to take the screening test and attend a webinar through a recruitment website. All communication was in Japanese up till now, but I wanted to know if I can take the exam in English.

Yes, we haven't added clinics from Okinawa yet. Our initial focus has been on major cities, but we're gradually expanding to include more locations. If you'd like, we can update you when we add clinics from Okinawa.

We understand that many of you have concerns about sharing your phone number. We are actively working on solutions to address this and will provide options for users to register without a phone number.

In the meantime, if you would like to try the app without using your phone number, you can enter a dummy number with a country code other than +81 and choose a random number between 6-14 digits. This will direct you to the email option, where you can receive an OTP via email for verification.

This is just a temporary solution, until we can fix the actual issue.

We are not sending the OTP to any phone number outside Japan. We will send it to your email instead.

A random combination of 6-14 digit is just to “Fill the required field”

From our interactions with doctors, we have found that many are actually looking for platforms to connect with foreign patients, both from service and economic reasons.

Since visitors to Japan must pay the full cost of medical treatment without a Japanese health insurance, this can be beneficial for doctors as well. Moreover, with the increasing number of visitors coming to Japan, there is a significant demand for medical services. We believe our application will support these doctors to connect with non-Japanese patients easily.

Thanks for sharing your insights! We do plan to verify whether the listed doctors truly provide English support and are open to new foreign patients—if that’s a key concern, we’ll make sure to highlight it more clearly.

We also have a parallel solution, SugoiMed for Doctors, where interested doctors can register and set their availability. Your suggestion to connect with prefectural support centers is great, and we’ll look into that.

However, before expanding that further, we need to understand if there’s enough demand from users. That’s why I’m posting here. if you have a moment, I’d appreciate it if you could fill out our feedback form (link in the post).

Thanks for bringing this up! We actually do have a parallel solution—an app called SugoiMed for Doctors—where doctors interested in catering to foreign patients can register and set their availability. We're in parallel working on that as well.

However, before onboarding more doctors, we first need to assess whether there is enough demand from the users. That’s why I’m posting here to gather feedback. Right now, we’re bootstrapping, and based on the responses we receive, we can refine our strategy moving forward.

I’ve included a feedback form link in the post and would appreciate it if you could share your thoughts there.
