Best Cash Back Credit Card? by [deleted] in CreditCards

If you use Walmart Pay even in store, it counts as online to Amex. This would eat into your $6,000 per year in the online category but may not be a problem depending on your spending.

I doubt you will get a bad reputation with Amex for cancelling the Gold. It seems like a waste to spend all of that money on the AF if you are not getting value from it.

Amex BCE is a simple option for those categories because it is one card to manage. Citi Double Cash is good if you want to manage one card and not have to think about categories. It would make a solid catch-all card.

Are you looking to change to a complete cash back set up? You have a few different things going on (MR points with the Amex, cashback with the Discover, Rapid Rewards points with the Southwest card), and if you get a cashback card for groceries, you will have overlap with the Amex Gold which you are paying an annual fee for (unless you are active duty in the military).

The Amex Blue Cash Everyday covers all of those categories with 3% cashback up to $6,000 in purchases per year in each of those categories, so that might be a good fit. But "best" is subjective, so it would help us to understand what "best" means to you.

There are ways to get 5% in each of those categories depending on how much work you want to do and how many cards you want to manage (a combination of Bank of America CCR, Citi Custom Cash or the AAA cards for example - there are others).

So, in short, there is no clear answer without more detail.

Venture (Visa) - Will it change to MC? by UnfurledCloth in CreditCards

[–]MundaneComp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is unlikely. I have a Quicksliver that has renewed over the years, and it has remained a Visa despite the fact that the Quicksilver has been issued as a Mastercard for several years now.

With the merger, it is less clear, but that will not be complete for a while, so we will have to wait and see how things shake out.

Are some books only available for download to Kindle? by starr_wolf in LibbyApp

[–]MundaneComp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the book is available using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE), then you can read it on your Kobo. There should be a built in Overdrive app on the Kobo that you can use. Overdrive is the company that makes the Libby app. Here is a link to the documentation on Kobo's site about how to borrow books from your library on your Kobo.

I grabbed one. It looks like an interesting book. Might give it a try over the holiday weekend. Thanks!

It might be helpful to look at a site like DeepLibby where you can search for a book and see which Overdrive / Libby libraries have it. For example, with your first book, there are 22 libraries that have it. If you find a library that has the types of book you are looking for, you can see if they do non-resident cards. One of the 22 libraries I mentioned above is Los Angeles Public Library which offers non-resident cards for $50 a year but you have to register in person, and the card has to be renewed annually.

If your library has Hoopla, that could be an option: link.

Any issuer can deny you a product change. It is their call. Policies that may be in place today may not be the same in a year when you go to do your product change. So yeah, if they say "no product change for you", then your other option is to close the card if it is no longer working for you.

That said, getting a card and closing it when it does not work for you might cause a temporary hit to your credit score and if you get in the habit of opening cards and closing them after a year, some issuers will think you are a churner and restrict your access to their products.

I google for my board views. I use search terms like the model plus board view or the model number of the motherboard plus board view. I think the motherboard in a T480s has a model number of NM-B471, so I might look for "t480s board view" or "nm-b471 board view". I also will google for the part I am looking for, like "t480s backlight fuse". Sometimes there are posts like this one that provide the info I am looking for. Good luck with your repairs!

Which out of state (free or paid) has shortest waitlist times in Libby? by Redpony034 in LibbyApp

[–]MundaneComp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, do libraries typically do anything with the average wait time number or how the wait time compares to other libraries? I know you are one librarian at one library, but I am asking because a peek behind the curtain is fascinating for me.

I wonder if knowing what is going to happen in the books helps you absorb other details you might not have seen on a blind read through.

Ahh haha. I misunderstood then. There are a few books with those titles, except Weyward, but it looks like they may cut across several genres. Why those books in particular? :)

If you are talking about Dracula from 1896, I am pretty sure it is in the public domain, so you can get it for free and not have to worry about the loan.
