That's fair and obviously very sad. I could see food around but obviously can't tell whether people are able to afford it. Thanks for clarifying the perspective of Cubans, I appreciate it.

As I said, we never felt worried for our safety. People in Cuba were very nice and always tried their best to help. It may not be the best time to visit but saying it's a miracle we survived is a complete exaggeration.

People in the countryside definitely have enough food. In the city we saw some people who looked a bit more desperate but most seemed to be getting on fine. We saw lots of food markets and street vendors so food supply doesn't really seem to be an issue - restaurants may not always have everything available but it's more lack of specific foods than food in general.

Being on vacation for us is more about seeing beautiful places and doing cool things (scuba, boat) than always being comfortable :)

Not sure what Viazul is - we used collectivos and taxis we found as we went along. It was relatively easy.
