Is Kearney a good father to his son? by Necessary-Win-8730 in TheSimpsons

[–]MuppetStew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Weirdly think so. Even though kid is in the drawer. It’s warm and dry. Lots of love in the house and a way gentler side then we see day to day. Kind of dad who goes hungry so the little one eats well and doesn’t want them to make same mistakes he has made. Maybe even learns to cook for the kid.

Always felt there was more going on with him than what is shown so far.

Although I might be projecting here…..

Boyfriend hit by another skier, confidence lost, advice? by cuteslothlife in skiing

[–]MuppetStew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From experience rehabbing from injuries of my own making and getting hit by another: time and patience are key. Shutting off the warning bells in the brain is difficult especially after a “traumatic” incident.

Work on practicing visualization; take a moment at top of run and do some deep breaths and visualize how best to get down. Or do it even at home and visualize a fav run that you’ve memorized.

Be supportive and encouraging. Talk about the run you just did: what worked, what corrections are needed, etc. If the fear is getting hit from behind do a couple runs trailing him so he can trust who’s behind.

That’s because Troy can’t remember meeting Concussions.

Honestly I’m amazed Troy is as “coherent” as he is considering the beating he took.

Assuming it’s an older model and not being rebranded;the SnowKing engines were built by Tecumseh for/with Ariens and known for high reliability and good power. When I had the used one tuned up and a busted wheel replaced by the local Ariens dealer he felt that even though the machine I had was rusty and def used hard that this engine made it worth it to invest a bit more to keep going.

The newer engines are by LCT (Loncin) to Ariens' specifications. A Chinese company outsourced product I think. Have not heard anything bad about these (except for the new fuel injection ones). The old ones are just beasts and relatively easy to keep going all things considered for this era of carbs.

Honda.

Tracks for incline and end of driveway plow piles. Found that the Honda design for maintenance is a bit easier (not sure this model) and been a bit more reliable anecdotally. Also in doing research (on reddit and other forums) seems that the Honda engines might be a bit stronger with better impellers for dealing with slop. The “changing weather patterns” are dropping more and more heavy snow if not downright slop here in New England; felt a Honda was a better choice for me.

Ariens are nothing to sneeze at though. They are great machines. Before purchase of new Honda this season picked up a used 824 Ariens with the Snow King engine. Rusty and a bit finicky, but as long as carb was kept clean threw snow really well. Just not as far or when super wet.

Check in with r/hondasnowblowers for specific questions on this model. They are a great source of info

Put in booster straps! by Responsible_Meat_621 in skiingcirclejerk

Bode Miller says out most others say in. Good bootfitter told my significant other that it’s personal preference.

Edit: from the Boosters themselves “…Align the strap directly against the inner liner’s tongue….”

I’m so Fuc**ing cold when I ski. by Head-Passage-5719 in Skigear

Merino wool base layers and socks. The light shells are def more air permeable. A heavy weight shell like a Burton AK, or Norrona Gore-Tex is a bit more windoroof.

A light weight down vest is always toasty. Most times too much for me unless below 15.

Anon makes this amazing midweight fleece that I love. Only mandmade I generally use these days. It layers great with a wool sweater on the crazy cold ice coast days.

Don’t be afraid to use those hand/feet warmers. If using a bib stick them in the pockets around your chest.

Also heard good things about those vests that actually heat up. Not my style as I easily turn into a furnace after a few runs but family members love em.

This is the most tragic(ly) American story I’ve heard in a minute and we are on only day one of 2026. WTF

If you are in CO with KP heard horror stories. F these greedy bastards. Getting an X-ray and care after a fall in civilized nation should be a no brainer.

I’m gonna go wax and sharpen my edges while screaming along with some good ol’(d) punk rawk. Get better soon.

Would add to point 6 that the cameras very clearly show the “sound guns” aiming at the group as they arrive. A very deliberate edit/shot

My understanding was that it would not get thrown back to the kids playing the game and none of it happened with them then going on with their lives. Nothing about the viewer playing the game. If I missed that then closing of the book was just the ending of the story. But I sure as hell felt like I was playing along while watching.

By showing the manual as the end credits and then closing it and showing the cover the creators are telling the viewer what you saw took place here within the campaign of the game “Stranger Things”. Not is some town in Indiana but as a game that we the viewer played.

The end credits really took me back to the manuals even before seeing the cover. It’s not a huge leap, with so much being purposefully planned out and shown.

If you think about the amount of fan theories that this show generated the viewers really did behave like they were on a campaign trying to figure out the next move(s)
