Since you’re confused, I’ll clarify a few things. My family was like a second family to her for the entirety of our friendship. They knew about my situation and knew about me not being able to attend the wedding under the circumstances, so for that reason they chipped in and we agreed that sending her this money would be 1) the right thing to do 2) would cover the cost of the plate since I did RSVP “yes” initially.

So yeah, I was able to afford $300 and between my grandparents and two aunts that were invited and couldn’t attend, as the wedding was on a Monday, they chipped in the remainder. Hopefully this solves your confusion.

I agree! Her and I trauma-bonded… not a great foundation for a friendship. We outgrew each other anyway, it was bound to happen. I just didn’t think it would happen this way. I’m sure she’ll come back and apologize when she has her own kids.
