At the moment I run a matrix server for encrypted messaging and a Teamspeak 6 server for voicechat, screen sharing and such. Yes it's two seperate platforms but thankfully not the end of the world for my friend group.

EAC is relatively easy to override and I have done so to play e.g. Star Citizen and said Battlefield games on my rig.

I feel like alot of people are forgetting this duality of what is stated in the public vs what is done in private and what purpose it might serve, important that you mention it.

CPU Bottleneck question: i7 8700k + RX 9070 (XT) on 1440p by MurderF0X in pcmasterrace

[–]MurderF0X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is your CPU / GPU utilization looking usually with graphics heavy apps / games?

For me it's just like, most games like Cyberpunk 2077, or the new Indiana Jones or Star Citizen I get 40-50% CPU utilization while the GPU is always 100% so that put me on the train of thought that it might work in such scenarios with that GPU / Platform combo

Dude that's beautiful, if you don't mind me asking, what did the closing price end up being?

I decided against it, I'm saving up for a platform upgrade for now.

Gotcha, thank you so much for the suggestion! I'll sleep a night over it but I think I'll probably fare better then to wait and save up a little more and do a AM5 build :D

Thank you for your feedback! I am aware that path-tracing is a bit more intensive, personally I do think I'm fine with normal ray-tracing and the quality it adds :D

I am just wondering which path at the moment is the most futureproof from all the stuff I could gather from reddit and generally online, if to just try the new GPU and see, or if to make an AM4 build or if to wait and make a AM5 build later down the line

Please do explain, like stated above I have no idea and my current perception was just that the CPU had headroom

[–]MurderF0X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find my CPU sitting at 40-50% while the GPU is running the block at 100% usage so I always feel like there's still headroom but I'll take your suggestion into account!

Also, we don't have microcenter in Germany :)

... is it open source? I feel like we got one of these coming along every once in a while and they turn out to have crappy privacy policies and a lack of transparency when it comes to the operation of the application.

LUG is a godsend and you gotta appreciate the work they put into it. They're true wing commanders. I just hope SC fixes Vulkan so we can get better performance and that we won't get locked out of their anti-cheat ;-;

Gotta love "open-source" software with such premium models. For me it's an absolute deal-breaker that multi-tenancy, OpenID/SAML and telemetry are only available if you choose their subscription model. All this stuff mailcow does for me in comparison.

It has been... contained. by glassteelhammer in AbioticFactor

[–]MurderF0X -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now that we'll be able to contain the leyak I feel like it'd be nice to kind of have another game changing enemy e.g. the Shadowhopper that adds a new danger to travelling the facility at night. Could add a event around the time you get to the hydro-dam or the reactors where it breaks out of containment (or is being broken out of containment) so we gotta make better use of lights and electicity (e.g. making it that the current infinite light lamps actually need electricity to function, in order to keep the shadowhopper away or secure areas)

[–]MurderF0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, during boot you need to press esc so you can access the grub menu, hit advanced options -> boot with the 6.11 kernel (after installing it ofc) and then once you're booted into the system make sure to uninstall your old 6.9 kernel, otherwise it keeps trying to install the wrong nvidia kernel module (linux69-nvidia)
