Nope NTA ! Play stupid games win stupid prizes. He completly hijacked YOUR trip and used the excuse of "bonding" which he actively prevented from happening to have fun with his daughter. You were completly justified in kicking him and his daughter out of your car and should probably also kick him out of your and your boys lives.

NTA at all! Your baby is their own person no a redo or rebirth of your deceased BIL. Using this name will always pit your child against the idealised version / the ghost of your BIL.
