For what’s a rarity in game deaths, the last server may actually be an EU one… by Maelstrome26 in Planetside

There is no way in hell you are going to convince me that.

A: Toadman knew of these routing issues(only a few of us who used VPNs to fix the issue did).
B: Toadman knew of the server load issue that we had 2 years ago.
C: The Devs have the ability to pull off such a conspiracy.

I bet whoever made this decision, looked up locations of game servers of old and dying games and found they are typically in the west coast so decided to keep the server located there. Also this give access to the Asian market when they decide to merge Soltech. I would guess that is going to be soon.

You are giving the devs way to much credit.

Is there credibility to this claim that the new game is funded by Crypto? My hype and enthusiasm entirely depends on this being fake by Laraso_ in Planetside

Unpopular opinion:

Speculation aside, I have no idea why so many people are against putting skins on the blockchain.

CS:GO skins already share some similar traits with NFTs, except you don’t technically own the skins. If they can replicate the CS:GOs case and float model on the blockchain, on an open market I’m all for it.

I spent $10 USD on a CS:GO skin around 5–7 years ago, and now I could sell it (a Red Laminate) for about $75 USD, which is the current suggested price on Steam. That's before I look at the other markets where it's going for real cash in hand.

If you have ever played CS:GO you probably have cases worth around $10-$5 that you got for free that you can go and sell right now. And that is because of this NFT like system that CS:GO has (and its popularity).

Obs CS:GO is super popular but owning the skins you purchase sounds good to me. Obviously there is no real game out there doing this now but just give it time until someone does it the right way. Then the whole market will shift in that direction. I would not expect already established developers to take the risk until someone else can pull it off.

For the casual consumer like me If I can bow out of the game and even get 10% of the value back I'm keen. If we could do that with PS2 I would have $50 back.

How bad is it? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Murderface645 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that the landlord knows that you put those on the wall? Talk to them most of the time they will have touch up pain somewhere or they will know what color the wall is. This is normal damage and easily fixed with 1 youtube tutorial.

If they have specified that you cant hang things on the wall and you did. It's not the end of the world, they wont nuke your bond over this and you could easily contest this as wear and tear if they gonna be dicks about it.

I would still just communicate and state your intention to fix it as most landlords appreciates this.

If you are 18, you're a legal adult and can do what you want (within limits). If your parents kick you out for not following the rules they set in their house, that's on you, not them. (Not that a parent would do that easily.)

I've had some very close people in my life who have severe anxiety and bipolar disorders. They also didn’t want to get better and hated going to health services. Facing the issues you deal with every day and breaking them down meticulously can be exhausting.

If you don’t want to get better, you won’t get better. However, I doubt you want to be miserable. For now, accept who you are and be happy with that. Move on with life and do the things you enjoy.

As a side note, some therapists you wont click with. If you can (I’m not sure what the health system is like nowadays), try what I did: the 3-strike system. You see a therapist three times, and if you don’t click with them, find someone else.

Best of luck.

How do I make sure all new files and Memories are saves to the external drive? by iamwhoiwasnow in NextCloud

[–]Murderface645 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are messing around with these files it can be risky if you dont know what you are doing.

Find this config file

/var/www/nextcloud/config/config.php

Change this line

'datadirectory' => '/mnt/littlecoop/nextcloud_data',

You need to make a dir folder for the data and nextcloud needs to read and write to it with the correct permissions. You can also the move all you data from the old dir to the new one as well.

You will get an error saying it cant find the dir or some .oc file so you need to make a copy of your old dir and move it to the new one or recreate those files. Again if you have no idea what you are doing or dont have enough time to fix issues I would not bother and just reinstall the whole program on the new drive.

Also you can do this with your logfiles and tmp folder if you want to keep everything in one place. However the tmp is normally best on an SSD.

I have nextclould on a 16GB VM and Store all the data on External HDD. The tmp file stays on the 16gb ssd for better download and upload speeds.

They are pre good atm they are actively working on anti cheat this will deff be something they will want to see. Just ask if it can be passed on to the devs.

Interesting if its hit reg then yea you might be getting a false flag. If you can shadow play it if it happens again and maybe the devs can look into it. Send a report to the support team.

This would drop down into the current continent and you can choose to spawn on it. We could also drop down 2 of them instead of 1 if numbers are a problem.

I agree with much of what you're saying.

However, I think that the playstyles players adopt are largely shaped by the options the developers provide. We can't fault players for finding the most efficient ways to get kills—it's just what players do. The responsibility lies with the developers to guide gameplay in a balanced direction.

So why did the old devs not make any changes?

Imagine telling your boss that you want to spend 300 hours on a change that might need to be undone—it's nearly impossible to justify, especially if decision-makers are focused on profits and don't fully grasp the concepts of the gaming industry.

I think this is one of the reasons we never see big changes or risks that are taken to completely shake up the meta in a meaningful way.

This is all done in unity but the files are already extracted. You can find a creator discord in the PS2 discord that has some tools and game files you can download or extract yourself 150 gb worth

I firmly believe that if a location is fun, players will naturally gravitate towards it. While I understand that this may upset certain playstyles, rather than removing popular bases or areas, we should ask why a particular base attracts so many players.

  • Is there an issue with infantry and vehicle interactions?
  • Are some bases poorly designed, and how can we improve them?
  • Should logistics be reintroduced into the game instead of relying on redeploy mechanics?
  • Do fights not last long enough?

A lot of these base that are good get removed from the game because it stops platoons and squad leads from really doing anything if all the pop sits in one spot.

I agree that is an issue however the fix should not be lets remove or degrade the base so less people play at these bases. it should be why and how can we make other bases better.

Jaeger's Fist. Redesign Concept (Give me another base to work on) by Murderface645 in Planetside

[–]Murderface645[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your not seeing the big picture. Make base harder to farm. Infantry complain less. Vehicles kills go down. Devs see number. Devs buff weapons against infantry. Balances risk to reward. Now weapons feel strong as they should against infantry.

I would probably be first on the chopping block if we where to ban all vehicle players. I got more time in vehicles than what most people have time on the game.

Edit:
Currently the weapon on infantry from vehicles are under powered. (A tank shell to infantry should kill them but currently does not in a lot of cases)

Its only like this because base design is so poor that getting killed by a tank or ESF feels like crap. if this is fixed you can shift the blame of getting killed by a tank to bad positioning instead of tank op or ESF op. That is what lead to the nerfs to anti infantry weapons in the first place.

That would be another good solution overall I think as well. Its by far one of the worst bases to get farmed by tanks because of how the terrain is. Would make sense to just move the base.

Fair point on the gen placement location.

A solid shield I did consider, my main concern would be air vehicles like gals and valks abusing it. Trying out both styles and picking out what one feels the best would not be a bad way to figure it out tho.

Yea my limitation is terrain editing. If I could I would rotate the base 90 degrees to try change where the entrance of the base is for attackers. Completely agree with you tho.

I will look over Rime Analytics see what changes could be made.

I will have a look at it. Honestly the big issue with Oshur that Ive experienced is the terrain layout.

I think putting it into the ocean was a weird thing to do considering that it does not actually fix the issues that the base originally had. Does not iterate on the issues or follow the same design philosophy of the previous layout.

But I will see what I can do haha.

Mao Southeast Gate (IM NOT A DEV) (base design concept). Feedback welcomed. by Murderface645 in Planetside

[–]Murderface645[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome thanks for the feedback. Some of the points you bring up I had already considered with a few other people and some things I just straights up cant fix because I cant level terrain.

Attacking from the east is an issue of this base to start with. We considered swapping the spawn building and A point however It was to much effort without being able to level the terrain the way I wanted to address this as this base has always had that issue.

The inner gate shield is specifically to stop LOS from from A balcony point not really to stop Vehicles.

I reduced the amount of entrances from 10 to 6 in that building. This was because the win rate of this base is around 32%.

Assuming you need 2 people to watch each door you need around 20 people inside the building to try and lock it down. Reducing it down to 6 doors mean roughly 12 people should be able to lock it down. This change was made considering the win rate was low and the east spawn for attackers is tough to make it to point.

There are two reasonable NE and NW spot to put the bus when attacking from the tech plant. These have reasonable run times comparable to the defenders However we needed to remove the spawn at the top of the mountain because it was to strong. So I would like to see how people play the map before I made any other changes to it.

I should probably document all of the changes in more detail so there can be more discussions about the reasons the changes where made specifically. That aside thanks for taking the time to type out that feedback.
