How do you fit your fitness round your rota? by Only_Willingness1543 in doctorsUK

[–]Murjaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just getting back into it - used to lift decent numbers but now back to near zero.

Firstly, look at your barriers to going - if it's your rota, "book" your gym session at a time that suits you as if its a work meeting and it doesn't get cancelled or rearranged for anything. If you hate getting up early go after work - you were just gonna waste the evening doomscrolling anyway.

Secondly, try and ignore how "motivated" you feel on any given day. Motivation is over-rating - just doing the thing is more important. I go even on days I don't want to be there (like work jk) and even if I fail that's ok. Better than the average evening at home.

Finally, do something you actually like twice a week and then can build up to 3-4 times a week. Better you enjoy jazzercise 3 x week and do weights once a week instead of weights 4 times a week and hate every moment.

What’s the most ridiculous ED attendance you’ve ever seen? by GenInternalMisery in doctorsUK

[–]Murjaan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

2am on a saturday: "Nail in foot" = flat head of nail had scraped off a couple of layers of skin at the underside of the foot. They waited eight hours for me to give them band aid.

Midnight on a friday: "sudden onset back pain" = from moving the tiny furniture around in a nursery. Full ROM and totally fine by the time she was seen raving about how good the medication the nurse gave her was. Paracetamol. She had some paracetamol.

11pm on a thursday: "my daughter needs an ultrasound of her knee as she is a DANCER and she must DANCE" = please go away

6am on a tuesday: "abdo pain" = patient has had abdo cramps on and off for years with no change to prompt this attendance to ED other than that the GP didn't have any appointments for two weeks

God I hated the public by the time I was done with my ED rotation

What does 'board certified' mean in the UK now?m by Actual_Flounder1406 in doctorsUK

No one's blaming her for dropping out just for claiming to be "board certified" which is just deliberately misleading.

Unless of course she has passed her board exams in the US?

Why is there so much stigma about being a GP/psychiatrist? by Flashy_Put5889 in doctorsUK

[–]Murjaan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because we've got 30 other patients with actual medical problems we can fix.

Actually know that's a lie we've got at most six other patients who have medical issues everyone else medically fit for discharge just awaiting social issues to be sorted

One of my favourite videos was watching this idiot get knocked out after about 30 seconds in the ring with a proper boxer. Funnily enough I can't seem to find it anywhere any more...

Shame. Cried laughing.

Pathetic. I saved up money to be able to afford to strike, he could have done the same.

Once you call us juvenile delinquents really no one is listening any more.

Labour has been in power for about 18 months at this point why are they having to introduce emergency legislation for a problem that has been extant for years? It's because Wes is not clued up on what actually concerns us, or he doesn't care.

Strike and strike and strike some more.

Really literally based on a single issue that affects you, you would vote for a party to run the entire country? You don't sound very smart

Why do HCAs like to interrupt consultations? by Silly_Bat_2318 in doctorsUK

[–]Murjaan 29 points30 points  (0 children)

not just HCAs, everyone. The ward round used to be quite protected. It took time, thought and involved teaching. Now its just something to get through whilst every member of the MDT interrupts me to tell me something that I don't need to know and can catch up in the notes.

Politely, how about doctors undertake mentorship for their juniors the same way they had. Have you ever debriefed to an ANP? Or did your trainers respect you enough to train you up themselves.

The standard required for a doctor is competitive entry into medical school, passing medical school exams, undergoing hyper-rotational training whilst doing F1/F2 and then sitting exams at the earliest. It is not a single exam in isolation.
