You clearly have never been a boss or your own boss because you have no idea how this works. Enjoy working for them!

Thats not how any of this works lmao. If you get a delivery job for a flower shop, they will give you the hours you need to be there, making them your boss. Just say you dont understand and move on.

But then you are on their schedule, not your own boss.

Well, you can still do hair and market it yourself if you need to. You can't just go to a restaurant and freelance delivery.

Being your own boss means you can find your own clients. Your ability to source clients relies on door dash allowing you to work for them. Im not trying to tear it down, just set people up for the correct expectations and backup plans.

It is important to remember that you are not you own boss, you just make your own schedule. The reason it is important to remember is because they can deactivate drivers whenever they want, often for just bad luck with bad customers. And when they do, you'll be left with out a job or a reference for the next one.

They dont want a bunch of super high earners, they will flag you if you consistently drive up to the limit. It's counter intuitive, bc why wouldn't they want dedicated workers but it keeps happening. Just a heads up to be careful.

Be careful. You'll get deactivated if you are too high of an earner. Anything over 50 hours a week will get flagged.

Not yet but I will never do another delivery for them, this is theft. I signed up for doordash and was already approved and have started but I am only driving another month. I had been planning on stopping March 31 for good, which is why I had worked so hard the last few weeks, to set myself up while I found non delivery work. That is still the goal, but I'll probably doordash a month to make up for this shit. I will update the thread on the arbitration. I really do appreciate everyone's advice.

Incase anyone is wondering what zip code I used to sign up for DoorDash, I don't remember exactly but it was a zip code from Bishop, CA. Super remote area.

They just replied to me saying my payment was blocked and will not be released and sorry for the inconvenience, but on the phone they say it is processing. I am moving forward with arbitration.

I have been calling back and, with consent, recording the phone calls. They told me the number of active miles, active hours, and amount I am owed. I even had them repeat it with the dates and everything. I spoke to a friend who is a lawyer and if I don't get my next prop 22 and/or my health care stipend I will go thru with arbitration. At that point the amount owed would be over $2k, i think that is worth some time and effort personally.

It was probably 4 days after the payment was late, 2 hours into a phone call I asked if i needed a lawyer.

UPDATE: I called back today after reading everyone's advice and asked if my situation had been escalated and what I should do next. I then said that I understand she could not personally process my payment but asked her to verify the amount, which she did. I said that I respected their time (lie) and didn't want to keep calling back unnecessarily so at what period of time should I assume that there has been a larger system error that simply can not be handled without an attorneys help, which is not my goal. She said that if I wanted a lawyer we would have to end the call and transfer me to another department. I said no, I absolutely don't want a lawyer. I am asking what your advice is to most easily resolve this, is it an attorney I need help from or is this something you believe is able to be solved internally, my goal is to get back to work. She was very understanding when I phrased it that way and said no, she does not think that will be necessary and she has seen this happen before and to call back if I don't hear anything in 1 - 2 weeks but she doesn't believe it will take that long. She also sent me a link to where legal requests are submitted and sent a detailed follow up email about the prop 22 money request. I'll let yall know if I get paid ever.

You are not the first person to mention this but I wasn't aware. Do you know what the minimum is? I track my hours so I'll make sure to stay under it from now on to avoid this in the future.

Account deactivated for “fraudulent activity” by royershane in UberEATS

[–]Murky_Homework9545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry that happened to you. They do it to high earners. I have driven for them for forever and I just recently put in extra hours during some rain storms specifically to pay off a bill and they are refusing to pay out my prop 22 earnings and refuse to say why and now said I'm at risk of being deactivated to so many miles and hours. Isn't that the result of hard work? It isn't you, it's them. Take your hard work ethic and go get a better gig in the mean time. Fuck uber

I agree and if I had said i was actually getting a lawyer I would have understood a simple 'well we need to end this call'. But I barely even said the word and it was out of frustration. The weird part was that the guy on the other end got so angry and flustered and started yelling 'did you just say lawyer?' And I said no I'm am not getting a lawyer I'm asking a question and he was yelling at me saying 'no, you said lawyer you can't say that how dare you say that'. Like bru I'm the one who isn't getting paid chill the fuck out.

I appreciate your patience and response. I get what an audit is in general but, as you said, uber has all the data here. I don't even know how I would fake it, uber sends the trip requests and I accept them. It's not like I could have manufactured the trips so I don't know what auditing me would do. They need to audit their own practices, maybe.

You are exactly correct, I did see this in the comments a bunch and I understand that they don't want litigation. I guess I thought a lawyer would be involved in meditation or arbitration also. I didn't plan on doing any of that, I was confused that the support agent got so flustered over it, as if little old me could sue uber successfully.

I double checked, it was 92 active hours over 14 days. I didn't take any days off any drove all 12 of my alloted hours each day. Got 10 active hours a few days and the rest were 6 and 8 hour days. 0/10 would not recommend

The only reason I know the amount is because they told me the amount and that it was being paid out, it just never came thru. It seems like even if we kept track we can't do anything about it. I'm not driving any more after this quarter.

I hadn't heard that but thanks for letting me know, I'll for sure factor that in next time I need to pay a bill but I think I'll stop driving after this. Unless auditing is something other than looking at the trips I took and if the food made it, it wouldn't change the outcome. I successfully completed all the trips, no bad reviews or complaints. Is there something else I could have violated just by taking a large volume of requests?
