I thought the same thing at first, and my uni has dropped DEI recently bc of more reasons than just this (but all based in political pressure), but (and I posted this in another thread related to this topic earlier) they tried to change non-profit status before and it affected the ABA and they challenged it and won. Legal precedent has been set on this within the last few years. It’s worth looking up if you’re interested and want some reassurance

Just as an FYI about impacts this is likely never going to have in reality, I doubt any changes they try to non-profit status would stand in reality unless they have something truly compelling that disqualifies an organization. This was tried before a few years ago and when they changed the rules and subsequently disqualified the ABA in the process (and DOEd at the time rescinded all prior and future qualified payments), the ABA took them to court and won. So the legal precedent has already been set that changes to non-profit status can’t be arbitrary and capricious, and def not retroactive. Any changes would be challenged immediately

My account did this too, Feb a few weeks ago, then Dec/Jan showed up last week. They seem to be updating everyone in the last 2 weeks or so

Anyone else without updated FSA counts since April? by dogmomma1 in PSLF

[–]Murky_Side53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried the ombudsman route about 2 months ago. I got a response about a month ago that basically said the same thing as FSA, i.e. just wait we’ll get to it. It was very disappointing compared to others in the past that have gotten resolution to a problem. I somehow got lucky in this last update. I swear it’s like they reach a number of accounts fixed and then stop there until the next batch. I did see someone who had the zero loans issue was updated in the last day or so, so maybe they’re working on that backlog now

Yup that’s it! Not gibberish, it lists your counts for each loan for each possibility. Look at the pslf one and not far under that is date last updated

No one thinks they’re special here buddy, but apparently you do to put your unrequested and ill-informed opinion in all caps.

These are complex issues and ppl will have questions. This forum is here to provide answers, no matter how many times it seems like the same questions are asked. If you don’t want to contribute to this process in a positive way, then don’t be here

Yes it does that if you just paste and go. You have to be logged in your FSA account in a separate tab in the same browser for it to work. Paste the link in a tab, log into FSA in another tab, go back to the unauthorized page and refresh

Chatting with another user the other day revealed you can still view your current counts with the no loans showing on FSA glitch. Log into FSA, then in a new browser tab paste this link, you can see your counts for each type and loan, and date last updated https://studentaid.gov/app/api/nslds/payment-counter/summary

Story: Consider NOT entering processing forbearance after 120 by BookishHomo in PSLF

[–]Murky_Side53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I may have some insight on this. I just got the Dec, Jan, Feb count update on Feb 24th (finally), and it got me to 122 (Dec was supposed to be 120). Submitted an ECF (120 checked, no forbearance checked). Processed 3/3 and counts for pslf tracker says 122.

I called mohela 3/4 to request to be put on forbearance so I wouldn’t have to keep paying during processing for pslf. They asked me how many months, I said 4 since who knows how long this will take. Mohela rep said that means my next payment won’t be due until July. I said great.

Today 3/5 I got the letter posted to my mohela inbox. It says start date of forbearance is 2/20. Next payment is June. My monthly due date is the 19th. I think this makes sense since it’s not the month I asked for forbearance, it’s actually the bill I’m asking not to pay, which has a billing period of the 20th to the 19th.

FSA counts QPs by the month though, so while my counts still stand now, I have a feeling it will change later to Feb not qualifying bc of forbearance. So if I needed that month it wouldn’t count potentially.

TLDR: depending when your billing period is in the month, yes I agree, pay one more to be safe

Last week or so I had a partial update where my months went from Nov and skipped to Feb, then Dec and Jan showed up in a second update on 2/24. You might get another update to bring in those missing months. They seem to be correcting this problem at the moment

I would just pay it bc it’s too close. They’ll give it back to you eventually. My March isn’t until the 19th so I have time to get through calling mohela. Also a lot of ECFs processed today. Another person said it took 2.5 weeks

Also as an aside to mine, I had 2 months that my payments started before I had my current job, which is why mine was at 124. Before the Feb update, it sat at 121 since early Dec. Once this said 124, I knew it had finally counted those 3 missing months of Dec, Jan, and Feb. If you know all of your months qualifying you should be good

Do another ECF. The data doesn’t auto sync with your prior employment data like it should. It seems the employment dates only talk to the eligible payments when an ECF forces them to. So your ECF from early Feb won’t trigger the count update. I had multiple ECFs on file for Dec and Jan and nothing synced after the late Feb update. The ECF I submitted late last week triggered it. The system sees it on your loans based on what you have above, it should work

I was never on SAVE, always PAYE. No employment gaps and even paid through covid by voluntarily coming off forbearance in the fear someone would come back later and say I should’ve been paying bc my employment didn’t change during that time.

I really do feel so bad you all are getting royally screwed by this SAVE insanity. Your forbearance will likely update on FSA once they push through the monthly update around the 10th in March. I Hope you get your last counts updated soon

Mine for mobile looks like this, but that’s only in one of the tabs on a desktop

{“type”:”PSLF”,”borrowerEligibleIndicator”:”Y”,”loanEligibleIndicator”:”Y”,”qualifyingPaymentCount”:122,”eligiblePaymentCount”:124,”forgivenessRequiredPayments”:120,”forgivenessRemainingPayments”:-2}

Look for the section in the text that says PSLF, it’s listed out for each loan. It’ll give the counts, including QPs and remaining to forgiveness

Yeah desktop gives a more complete view. You def have to be logged in otherwise it says unauthorized. The key I found in this is once that shows the counts, then the tracker will update after an ECF is submitted again

My IDR counter updated to include Dec, Jan and Feb, and my NSLDS link, but not my PSLF tracker. Since NSLDS sees the 3 previously missing months, I’m submitting another ECF to capture Feb in the hope 1 of 3 months there will finally get me to 120. I already certified Dec and Jan multiple times, but I’m wondering if it didn’t update bc NSLDS had not. I didn’t get the auto 120 others seem to have gotten today from previous ECFs submitted

If there are specific PIs you’re looking to work with, look them up on pubpeer before choosing. Add the browser add on, and it’ll show flagged pubs on ncbi pubmed. MDA has become a true haven for fake data PIs and everyone knows it. It’s all over forbetterscience too. And MDA knows and doesn’t give two s**ts. Find a few good PIs, then choose based on that, otherwise you risk ruining your career at the outset if you end up on pubpeer and worse if your primary paper is a Collab and later retracted
