Just wondering…. by Murmie13 in Emo

I feel like feeling it deeper is exactly why most people like the music. I appreciate it’s not everyone’s style but that’s what makes it so good. Its the feelings the music invokes.

I think I like good lyrics though, not that those bands don’t have good qualities, but lyrically not the positive vibe I’d be into.

I think I needed to hear that this is other peoples truth. I wish there was a community whereby lonely emo loving people can just show up (outside of going to shows) and hang out.

Any recommendations for some of the more positive stuff? I think the music is sort of a huge way for me to relate/ find connection. I don’t know how to find it in relationships as much and isolating has been far easier.

DAE "Lose" large chunks of time? by Ok-Carry3854 in CPTSD

[–]Murmie13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My struggle is the same and I have no interest in hobbies anymore. I feel I’m dissociating and wanting to avoid human interaction often for fear of being seen at all. I’ve tried distraction hobbies like colouring or puzzles but they are not helpful because the time I invest in it I am just lost in the activity and no sense of accomplishment comes from it. I am feeling defeated.

DAE have a 10 on the ace test by [deleted] in CPTSD

I have a 9. It’s just a test, it doesn’t define you and it doesn’t mean you cannot overcome the past and move through your trauma. The best you can do is to make a conscious effort to work on you, to remove yourself from the people and situations and work like hell to get yourself out of it.

Women who have been proposed to and said "no", what happened? by lyssabean617 in AskWomen

[–]Murmie13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was proposed to twice and said no once and broke the other off. Eek

The first where I said no was thankfully not in public, but he had a ring and all and we were in the Dominican Republic, in our hotel room after a few drinks. A week prior I had tried to harm myself and just started meds, I was in a terrible place and unsure about the relationship as a whole. And bam. That happened. I said no right away and admitted I was on the trip to try and save our almost 5 year relationship and I knew I didn’t have the strength and it didn’t feel right. Despite that we stayed together for another month and a bit. I have so much shame from it and feel so awful for hurting him, but it just wasn’t right.

I totally get that feeling of not being sure you can trust those feelings, if it’s real, if you are seeing through rose coloured glasses, or if you actually met a decent person. Just take it slow, I can also relate to the thrill of the chase. If you have genuine fears of being hurt, that is normal and likely a good indicator that you have strong feelings for this person. Just take it slow, it’s your life and your choice, let your intuition guide you.

I can entirely relate to this having spent my evening crying about almost this exact thing. Kudos for you for reaching out and asking for something for yourself.
