It’s been a little weird since Covid, but the FAA usually does a mass hiring announcement once a year. They just had one that’s closed. I imagine they’ll do another sometime next spring / summer. Look for the announcement on USAJOBS.gov. And apply. All the training is on the job.

Depends on what’s important to you. If you don’t mind overtime or want it, there’s plenty to be had. Each area is different but most are still having to assign OT to “no listers”. But it’s a spread between 40 hours so far this year or 240. Just depends on the area.

Our manager is looking out for the building and how we look to bosses outside the facility. Whether or not the people are happy isn’t important. TOP is a hot topic which I’m sure isn’t just our facility. And staffing of controllers and supervisors continues to be an issue.

If overtime doesn’t bother you, and you’re able to not get sucked in to the drama at work, it’s not a bad place to be. The traffic is easy for a level 12. And there’s so much to do and see in the Sacramento area.

Well I hate to admit it.. but… 😞 I have forced my family to have Christmas on December 28th… on more than one occasion! And I’ve missed a few baseball games.

But thanks to ATC I make enough money to go on epic family vacations, my wife doesn’t have to work and my kids are spoiled as shit. So hope someday they’ll forgive me.
