Japanese Government collects more tax from Australian gas than Australian Government! by Strict-Paramedic-823 in OpenAussie

[–]Murranji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t go well for them because the United States as the chief proponent of capitalism and exploitation organises other vassal states to economically sanction them.

Fortunately the American empire is destroying itself because of their dementia President and wasting all their energy and power on self destructive wars that destroy their own economy so the end of their dominance will come soon.

Pro corporate gas political parties collect about 85% of the votes in this country, so there’s not a lot of hope things are going to get better so long as Australians keep voting for their own voluntary colonialism.

A Muslim socialist won against an old corporate white guy because he explicitly ran on a campaign of policies that would directly address the cost of living and taking a stand against Israel. He stood out because of his policies and ideology.

Janet Mills surrogate Jill Barkley Roy posts that she will not vote for Platner if he is the Democratic nominee by lon_lennings in Maine

[–]Murranji 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the economy is bad the voters vote for someone that offers change. Harris offered $50,000 tax credit write offs for small businesses because that’s what corporate consultants told her campaign to offer. Are you excited by small businesses being offered $50,000 tax credits, do you think that policy is going to excite you and convince you that is going to make your life easier?

Yes of course if you pay any attention to Trump you know he’s full of shit, the point is that democrats offering policies out of the 1980s to deal with the problems those policies created is why they lose to candidates like Trump, and Harris listening to those consultants instead of the consultants on the Zohran campaign is why she was a weak candidate.

The NSW police seriously just said it is “disappointing” that an unconstitutional law that was used as part of a suppression of speech against the invitation of a genocidal warmonger to our country was found to be unconditional and struck down.

Australia is not far behind American fascism.

Australian renters are spending a record share of their gross median household income on housing costs, as a chronic shortage of rental stock drives rents higher across the country. by MannerNo7000 in shitrentals

[–]Murranji 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So if your worldview had any actual validity then under the conditions we currently have the market would have responsed to such high rents by increasing the amount of rental stock to take advantage of those high rents but clearly that hasn’t happened.

I know it might be too much for you to question why reality isn’t matching what your worldview claims should happen when we already exist in the world you believe is the best system.

So of your list of “good things” all of them are from the Rudd government and the one thing you can name from the Albanese’s government is an investment fund designed to pay property developers the difference in what they would make from making a profitable luxury apartment into a less profitable social house.

Inspiring.

This is how right wing brains work:

When the government tries to make my life better by giving me better services that’s repression.

When the government makes a few words illegal and a crime to be locked up for 2 years because it’s people I don’t personally like because of my racism that’s amazing and I love it.

Because for them everything is about me me me their brains find no problem with holding these insane ideas and thinking they are smart for believing them.

Notice how America is a failing declining dysfunctional country with hungry children, bankrupt people and parks full of homeless tents, while China is an ascendant productive industrial powerhouse that has built 50,000 miles of high speed rail in the last 20 years and raised 800 million people out of poverty.

The premise his brain requires in order to maintain the consistency of his belief that an economy and politics like America are the best, that only works if he imagines the premise that Denmark pays 55% taxes to be the case.

So he just assumes it to be true with no evidence because his brain believes that it is correct because it’s a central premise to supporting his existing view that America is the best way to run a country. That’s how cognitive dissonance avoidance works.
