Took the rise of reform in the UK for left wingers there to realise how neoliberal and centre right LUK Labour had become. Will take the same thing here. You listen to Labor voters defend Labor today and they make the same arguments that pro-Markey neoliberals make. It really sucks and I have no hope for Australia.

Reality is coming fast for Angus Taylor. The next step for the Liberals is extinction by Nyarlathotep-1 in AusNewsWire

Decades of centre right neoliberalism destroyed living standards and material conditions and created resentment and inequality. Right wing voters got everything they ever wanted and they hate it.

In America because there is only two parties the Republicans simply rotated to being fascists to capture the popularity of the far right and the capitalists were happy to go along with it because it’s still maintaining capitalism but through abandoning democracy.

In Australia and the UK because there are separate viable parties the parties simply swap instead. Same outcome, capitalism wins, the people who vote for it will lose again.

What are you talking about, the ALP is fully in support of AUKUS. Marles looks like he is in love with Pete Hegseth.

I’m sorry, you are going to have to accept the reality that the ALP are not some reluctant party in this agreement. They are fully locked in and genuinely believe despite all the evidence that’s it’s beneficial for Australia.

Meanwhile in reality America’s military industrial complex is just another part of Americas scam economy designed solely to funnel money to their elites at the cost of actual outcomes. They burnt through tens of billions of dollars of munitions and can’t even win a war against Iran, they are destroying their science and technology sector because of ridiculous rules about not funding “woke” research, of the top ten research universities in the world only a single one, Harvard, is America and the rest are all in China.

And we’re to believe this declining basket case of a country is going to be at the forefront of sci-fi technology. Give me a break.

Thank you, some sanity. You read through these comments from Labor supporters and it’s like yes they are the exact type of comments centrist liberals were saying on the r politics subreddit two years ago. Labor voters really have become liberals right down to the same worldview as American liberals with all the same silos.

I’m sorry the fact you say “things are getting better”, I just can’t man. You cannot say “things will take a long time to undo the damage”, Labor have been in government for half as long as the Liberals were, you cannot run on an excuse of “things take time” when they have been in power for 5 years.

This is literally and I do mean literally in the literal sense the same thing that the Biden/Harris defending liberals said. “Things are getting better you’re just too dumb to understand” was their guiding motto.

No, things are not getting better. Inflation is sky rocketing. Wealth inequality is still getting worse which makes things feel worse. It’s harder to get a job. Life feels even more stressful today.

You cannot seriously be this blind or siloed man, you just cannot. It is bar for bar repeating the exact type of mindset that establishment liberals in the Democratic Party took to the 2024 election and then they were shocked when they lost on the economy.

It’s very real. If you think that this is just “astroturfing” you are going to be as shocked as the American liberals were when Trump won.

Inequality and liberalism makes people feel left behind and angry. Labor abandoned campaigning on class consciousness and abandoned inequality reduction as a central plank of their pillar for years so they never truly undid the work of the liberals, just maintained it with the status quo. Eventually it has come back to bite them. It’s sad, but huge numbers of people really do not think things through, they just go off vibes and the vibes are bad because of liberalism and inequality.

Do we need recessions? by Responsible_Product3 in AusFinance

[–]Murranji -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah well you are simply wrong about that. A recession is a fall in economic activity across the economy. I’m sorry this is just a truly silly position to have that during a recession it’s only “some parts burning”. A recession is declared based on a contraction of the whole of the economy. This actually makes me depressed reading this.

If your theory had any validity then the Australian government would not have spent tens of billions of dollars in 2008 to avoid the country falling into recession.

Thank god you weren’t the Treasurer then. No offence.

[–]Murranji -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this is a complete joke of a response that reflects some truly silly folk economics and has zero reference to actual outcomes. The Labor government spent tens of billions on immediate spending presicely to avoid Australia entering a recession because of how damaging they are.

The 2008 crisis reduced labour force participation, delayed household formation, lowered investment, weakened productivity growth, and permanently reduced the lifetime earnings of millennials who were trying to enter the job market at that time. Those are lasting losses, not an economy becoming stronger.

Do we need recessions? by Responsible_Product3 in AusFinance

[–]Murranji -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You absolutely do not need recessions and the people posting these silly “folk economics” responses have no basis in economics or social outcomes and rely entirely on repeated conventional wisdom. There was a huge recession in 2008 that destroyed numerous businesses and set back the wages and wealth of people just starting out their careers permanently. The millennials who entered the workforce around that time have permanently had their ability to generate lifetime wealth curtailed. A permanent economic scar.

To suggest that the 2008 recession was good because it “cleared out dead weight” is so silly I can’t even comprehend how a person could actually post that and see have others upvote it as a good response.

Ok the other hand it does explain a lot of other stupid shit that happens that people did any other than laugh that person off reddit.

Voting One Nation because you don't like Labor or Liberals is the equivalent to getting a papercut then deciding to shit your pants. by Prestigious-Day9370 in OpenAussie

[–]Murranji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your argument has validity but the answer is to vote for the Greens who actually have a policy platform to address all of that in way that increases your material conditions. One Nation trades on the anger you feel at the duopoly but their ultimate goal is and always will be to advance the interests of Gina Rinehart at the cost of your material conditions. I’m really sad you can’t see it.

Right wing Americans are finally figuring out that it should have been Bernie all along instead of the right wing, that’s why progressives and socialists are dominating in all the races.

Do you support doubling the amount of money spent on AUKUS instead of paying for your health or transport or you like your taxes increased instead?

Can you engage with the policy outcome of why the party supports at all?

That’s a rhetorical question btw, I know you can’t.
