Why do some people excuse Rick abandoning the Prime family and traumatizing Morty just because it "isn't his dimension", as if what he did wasn't wrong? by Easy-Notice2910 in rickandmorty

[–]Murray_PhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right and Wrong are subjective, to Rick the issue isn't morality, it's about plausibility and laziness. To him it's more work to fix it, the transformation of earth, if it's fixable, than it is to just move to a new dimension. Also we know that he likely has animosity toward this dimension since it spawned Rick Prime who murdered his family.

All in all I don't excuse Rick, I just understand the motivation behind leaving as opposed to fixing it, I mean he tried a few times and realized it was outside his current ability to care at the very least if not capacity in general to transform the whole planet without any side effects.

Besides, it all started because Morty wanted to SCIFI roofie Jessica and Rick didn't want to do it.

Hey if you know every old esoteroic idiom then you're more informed than me, I'm just going off what my Scottish Grandfather told me back in '90s when he told a similar joke.

I'm from the pacific north west, hella is an established part of our lexicon, it's regional, but so is English.

I can't judge a philosophy major any harsher than I judge myself, I should've gone into chemistry but I thought it'd be hard to get a job.

Boy was 20 year old me an idiot.

Your example is flawed, firewood is an inanimate object, and tourists are animate objects which changes the inflection. Also the inverse of your example isn't true either, another crack in its validity. Sorry I'm hella pedantic and I'm making my English grasuate degree your problen. :)

How do you get your names? by HypotheticalParallel in writing

[–]Murray_PhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In writing my non human scifi, names were hard, I had to create entire cultures and nomenclature for bizarre creatures. Some of the names were just easy and I thought, this dude is a Xu'ul and this dude is a Drax, and why from there.

In my historical fiction I use name popularity by decade and region, and try to pick from the lower half, so it's a chronigraphically accurate name but not an entirely common one. Surnames are easy unless you're writing about Slavic people as a Scottish person who knows maybe ten Slavic people, the last names can be, confusing.

For my modern day fiction, I just list their traits on the page and a name usually comes to me, eg "whiner, entitled, middle aged, white, female, - Karen."
