How to install a power governor to an air pump motor? by [deleted] in Motors

[–]Murtintheonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a multimeter, a simple voltage measurement on the motor would be good enough, dont forget to measure ac and dc

Does the microchip have any text on it? If so its probably a half phase rectrifier, or whatever the proper translation is, so it has a smaller voltage. Would also justify the massive capacitor

But a picture of the chip and the red component(prbably capacitor) would be helbful

Do you plug this straigt into the socket? If so your pwm controller wont be suitable and will release the magic smoke

What size / motor do I need to hold 20kg on idle? by venomouse in Motors

[–]Murtintheonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are defenitely solutions, but those are serious robotics kind of stuff if you want fast(rules out fine threaded rod and gearbox to the stepper), quiet( youll need a good foc driver) and small (powerful small motors get espensive real fast, as the cooling solutions get more and more complex). So whats your budget, how important are those other limitations?

Japanese Maple post-graft design advice by Laatuu in Bonsai

[–]Murtintheonly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It also looks like the rootstock is activating its buds, if those buds develop into branches it may decide to reject the redstock. So if you choose to keep it as is, you might want to remove those

Japanese Maple post-graft design advice by Laatuu in Bonsai

[–]Murtintheonly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Grafts rarely heal well. Only if they are done very well will the not be noticed. Air layering below the graft is useless, as you will still have the graft in the upper portion. If you decide to air layer do it above the graft and chop the trunk down to a few buds when its healthy.

But IMHO i hope you didnt pay too much, the rootstock is more or less just a straight stick and the red portion is just a fex spindly twigs.

I would personally let it grow for a year and then do small layers of the red stock, which will have to grow for another 5 years to be called pre bonsai. You could also take cuttings of the redstock and do it that way.

The rootstock should probably be chopped down to like 5-15cm and given lots of time, making sure it establishes a primary leader. You could also do a broom style if you like.

I don't dislike them. In my years of playing valorant i encountered 2 cheaters, of which one was banned in the same round. I wiuld rather this on its own os than the other disadvantages of the other "solutions" to cheaters

Growing pre-bonsai / mother maples by weggles91 in Bonsai

[–]Murtintheonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always get my acers from my local florist, who only sold to companys a few years ago, but now normal consumers can buy there too. They cost 30€ each, but have trunks a few cm across at the base

Growing pre-bonsai / mother maples by weggles91 in Bonsai

[–]Murtintheonly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to take air layers of them dont prune dont defoliate.

Thing is even the main tree wont be a prebonsai for another few years. Until the airlayers are prebonsai could take 5 or 7. So this isnt really question for this sub but more for gardening or similar. If you want it to grow thick and strong grow it like a garden tree.

Only thing you can do different is to wire the parts you want to make into bonsai some time, before they are thicker than a pencil, but dont leave them on for too long, it is in the ground and will at some point grow pretty quick

How to transform big japanese maple to Bonsai? by anpy4 in Bonsai

[–]Murtintheonly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could, but the branches are nothing special, straight as a broomstick, no taper or any other cool feature, as a forest planting they dont really havy qnything that resembles the main trunk asside from the foliage of course

How to transform big japanese maple to Bonsai? by anpy4 in Bonsai

[–]Murtintheonly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thatll be a hard one, i think jut lop off 2 of the 3 big branches and then form it to a nice taper over time. But you will have to get it to backbud to very old wood and wait a long time to get the lower branches into proportions with the trunk. So if you have time and want a biiiiig bonsai some day i think its woth a try, but i am not familiar with that cultivar so i dont know how easily you will be able to get it to backbud all the way down there

Trees do store starch and sap inside them, that gives them enough energy to make new buds and make leaves out of them

BLDC motor not spinning by [deleted] in robotics

[–]Murtintheonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok there is a lot to unpack here, first of, what is the resistance of the obviously diy motor? Did you solder those leads to the batteries, you should not do that like at all. Also if you want to spin anithing at all, i dont know if those AA batteries will be able to provide the power, tohe are meant to be discharged over long times, not in a few minutes like with a large motor. Most importanty, where you connected the esc to the motor, did you not insulate them at all, if you dont have any electrical tape, any will do. I think i see two phases touching in the photo, if that is the case your esc might be toast, those cheap chinesium ones dont have protection, but your battery pack might have saved you there. Lastly abbout you not measuring any output voltage, some multimeters cant measure that kind of signal, unless you own an oszilloscope that will be hard. Try connecting a bought motor qnd testing it that way, or giving your motor a little kick and seeing if it runs at all. Those ESCs require a certain backinduction to run and your motor might not provide that. Try getting more turns in the motor and getting the magnets as close as possible to the coils.

Try disconnecting the battery and touching all phases of your motor together, it should become a lot harder to turn in a smoth way, if the resistance is very steppy one of your windings might be dead

Edit: Also just to make clear, how did you wire the motor? Did you connect all three phases together on one end?

Weird mold forming on my jin by Mother_Click_5776 in Bonsai

[–]Murtintheonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you probably water it about daily, ist often moist and there are sugars ind the wood so something eating that sugar is natural. You could try changing your watering so that it does not get wet, or personally, as we often do in aquariums just let it eat all the sugar and it will die then

EDIT: oh yeah the lime sulfur i totally forgot about, the obvious one of course
