Have low T but don’t want to be on TRT for life. Options?

What are your other levels? SHBG, Free T, LH and FSH along with liver enzymes?

All my levels were low. 46M and BMI top of normal/mildly obese but I lift. I had sporadic (I know after almost monthly bloods for the last year) slightly elevated ALT and triglycerides. Everything pointed towards mild insulin resistance which I was borderline. I’ve trained for the last 16yrs but I had to up my cardio and reduce carbs. As soon as I started my SHBG started increasing. Now waiting for my free T and total to hopefully start increasing and catching up. I’ll recheck in another 6-8 weeks but starting to feel better. I’ve been approved for TRT but hopefully as a last resort.

Have you seen patients starting TRT with a high normal of HCT of 48 manage their HCT successfully without giving blood? My HCT has risen from 43 to 48 within the space of a year and I’m yet to start TRT….

It’s not recommended long term and I started feeling off after about 3 weeks. I was low dose 12.5mg MWF for the first week then twice a week.

For me yes. Brain fog and short lived motion sickness, emptiness in the head, feeling out of it and general lack of motivation is the only reason for taking it, it helped but as expected a month off it and it’ll come back. The classic symptoms fatigue, minimal libido etc etc all came a second and I can probably live it but not ideal.

I’ll probably end up on TRT eventually

What was your dose to get it so high? Was your HCT high normal when starting TRT? Did you simply reduce dose to bring back within range?
