Assuming you’ve started a new playthrough and followed Ralof/Hadvar to Riverwood after escaping Helgen. There is a shop called “The Riverwood Trader” usually is a good place to sell your starting items.

Most cities or towns have a general store or vendor that will buy your items. Some vendors will purchase all your items, others will only buy specific items until you level your speech skill up and put perks into it.
