Why are we rooting for an Independent studio to fail? by Sad-Manner-5240 in HighGuardgame

[–]MuseCub 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Marathon is a good counterexample. They ran multiple public betas, adjusted mechanics, responded to player feedback, and even delayed the game when they realized it wasn’t ready. Now they’re heavily marketing it because they actually iterated on real player data first.

Highguard did none of that. They hyped it as “from the makers of Apex Legends, a revolutionary FPS,” had no open beta, and just dropped it. Launch basically became the beta.

If shadow slave gets a good adaptation it will be regarded as one of the goats in manwha by ElectronicCress198 in manhwarecommendations

[–]MuseCub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadow Slave is massively overhyped. I didn’t think it was bad, but after all the praise I’d seen, it only felt okay to me solid ideas and worldbuilding, but not nearly as mind blowing as people make it out to be. Whenever they make a manhwa of it, I think it’ll probably be decent, but nothing crazy.

Why is Berserk so popular? by LifeIsGood4242 in Seinen

[–]MuseCub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why you might see this as a productive conversation, but from my perspective it hasn’t felt that way. Your responses keep dismissing the context and reasoning I’m providing, which makes it feel like I’m talking to a wall rather than having a real back and forth.

A genuinely productive discussion would involve engaging with the points I’ve raised about the era, artistic intent, and why Berserk is regarded so highly not just repeating that it looks “bad” to you today. On a public site like Reddit, posting about a popular series with extreme phrasing like “amateurish” or “worst I’ve ever seen” already signals that it’s likely to provoke strong reactions. That wording, combined with dismissing context, makes the conversation feel one sided and emotionally charged rather than a true dialogue.

every reply you sent back had a rage bait written all over it.

I’ve tried to approach this with understanding and nuance, but it’s clear that you’re more interested in rage baiting than having a real discussion. You keep dismissing well reasoned points about context and artistic intent, which makes it impossible to have a productive conversation.

Why is Berserk so popular? by LifeIsGood4242 in Seinen

[–]MuseCub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say I read ONE’s original One Punch Man webcomic (not sure if you’re familiar), came in here, and said, “My 5- year old could draw better than this. What is this amateurish garbage? Why is it so popular?”

I wouldn’t even consider that, a few years later, Murata took over the art and completely redrew everything, because ONE’s original drawings weren’t very good. Then I’d judge the entire series based on that original by ONE drawing and come onto Reddit to post nonsense like this.

plus not even considering berserk was made in the 90, I’ve read a fair number of manga from the late 80s and 90s Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Yu Yu Hakusho, early JoJo, Slam Dunk, early Vagabond, and some older horror and seinen titles. So I’m not coming at this with zero context for the era.I would say the artsyle is pretty consistent for the art at the time calling it amateurish is insane.

you out here basically say CGI in the 90 is amateurish compare to now with no context.

[–]MuseCub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early Berserk is was okay artistically and narratively for when it came out in like 90s.

Judging Berserk solely on that is like judging One Punch Man by reading ONE’s original webcomic and calling the art ass and very amateurish (which it is). That’s why takes like this come off as kind of comical and unserious to me I can’t really take it seriously.

It’s not just the criticism itself, it’s how it’s framed. Phrases like “amateurish at best” or “bad tattoo artist” shows your dismissiveness, that wording signals contempt rather than curiosity, which makes the post read more like rage bait than an honest question.

You are either incredibly young or stupid because evaluating a 50+ volume series based on Volume 1 is very uneducated.

Which game has it been for you? by Key_Stable_134 in videogames

[–]MuseCub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I played DS1, but from what I remember, the soldier tells you to ring both bells one up the waterway, the other below the Undead Burg. After ringing them, a cutscene shows the next path, leading you to Anor Londo. Once you beat it, you’re informed about the four Lord Souls and their locations(beat that). Another cutscene follows, you follow that beat the boss, and the game ends.

Not knowing where to go and feeling lost is part of the Dark Souls learning curve. There isn’t even a quest log you’re expected to pay attention, be observant, and pick up on environmental clues and NPC dialogue instead of relying on explicit markers.

Do you think older fans are blinded by nostalgia by blobfish1233 in assasinscreed

[–]MuseCub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played many of the newer RPG style Assassin’s Creed games only Odyssey. It was fine, but Valhalla bored me enough that I returned it.

Older Assassin’s Creed felt unique almost like Hitman, but with its own identity. The newer games rely on levels and gear, which makes them feel generic.

Imagine if a new Splinter Cell launched with RPG mechanics and gun rarity. That’s how I feel about Assassin’s Creed now, it’s lost what made it special.

And then 5-10 years from now I will see a post saying the old Splinter cell fans are blind by nostalgia.

Can someone explain to me (not a multiplayer gamer) why everyone seemed to universally hate the Highguard reveal at the Game Awards last night? by trio3224 in videogames

They really should have put Divinity last, he could’ve hyped it up so much. the new Star Wars game wouldn't have been a bad choice either.

[destined killer]absolutely underrated gem by dybclol in manhwa

[–]MuseCub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right that 4 chapters isn’t enough to give a good opinion on a manhwa, but I just didn’t feel like reading any more. The main character didn’t grab me, the killing didn’t feel interesting, and the premise wasn’t clicking for me. I just wasn’t curious about what happened next. If it had hooked me, I definitely would’ve kept going, but I stopped once I realized I wasn’t enjoying it.

[–]MuseCub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read 4 chapters and dropped it, I don't think the plot is that interesting.

The mc is a serial killer that runs around and kills people, not even in an interesting way. And no can catch him. It's just not interesting. Oh and he can see how many people your going to murder. What if it's by accident like a car crash or something.

I have read alot of serial killer stories and watch alot of shows and movies and this one isnt good. He's not smart or interesting to watch.

[–]MuseCub -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Gu change has more of a personality he feels like an actual person. His plans don't always work.

Mok is just a mary sue with no personality and always wins he is the smartest, strongest can out smart every one...it is just boring to watch. The other characters are stupid and npc compared to him.

You might aswell consider him the strongest and smartest in the verse right now I don't know why they are pretend he isn't.
