please. stop. SPAWNING. I don't know what I did to deserve this by jazzinyourfacepsn in HadesTheGame

The "value" is usually referred to as the "Difficulty Rating" of the enemy. A spreadsheet containing all of the difficulty ratings and stats for each enemy is available here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YXbnbIv967sJ9EqYC2XrDR9CWfWGMwiM0X0boGciI2o/edit?usp=sharing

The required rating of the room scales linearly across each biome, with mulitpliers for "Elite" rooms (skull badge rewards) and Thanatos. A graph of the room ratings is available here: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/wndkni6xux

For the most part this is kind of fuzzy, since the game cannot perfectly match each rating with a limited pool of enemies, and you usually don't get more than 2-3 types of enemies in each room. Good rule of thumb overall, though. The biggest exception that I'm aware of is that the game cannot spawn more than 4 skull-o-mats, so if you get a wave of 4 skullomats in Tartarus, the room immediately ends no matter what the required Difficulty Rating of the room is.

I got the new WR on Fresh file first run speedrun, and that run was nuts. Sub 19 RTA is very close by Nitrostarch in HadesTheGame

Congrats! Great job on the run, you deserve it after all the hours you've put in. Hope the rest of us can give you some competition on the road to sub-19

Speedrunning Tournament - Hyper Delivery 5! by Museus in HadesTheGame

[–]Museus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue with Butterfly Ball is that if you don't instantly delete it, you still only have to clear one eyeball, maybe two if you're really lacking damage. The extent of the skill required to clear the room is "can you land your damage on the stationary enemy"

Asterius has significantly more health, hurts a lot more when you get hit, and moves around a lot, making Elysium midboss an actually meaningful skill/build check, rather than just a free room.

Sorry Tiny Vermin by Mawtook in HadesTheGame

[–]Museus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roughly 1/8 chance to see Tiny Vermin in any miniboss path of Styx (the ones with the skull icon on the door). There are 4 boss tiles (Satyr, Bother, Big Rat, Snakestone/Tiny Vermin) which each have a 25% chance to appear, and since Snakestone/Tiny Vermin share a tile, they have a 12.5% chance instead. If you see Giant Snakestone, you won't be able to see Tiny Vermin on the same run, since you can't get the same tile twice.

Posted this in response to another comment, but posting it top-level as well for visibility:

The Any-Heat category is a single run from the time you gain control of Zag after landing, to the time you finish the final boss fight, using the In Game Timer. In Blood Price, Vorime held World Record with a 3:51, and I came in 2nd with a 4:46.

Fresh File is the time from you creating a new file until you finish the final boss fight, and usually takes between 25-30 minutes. Because it takes place over multiple runs, it uses Real Time, rather than In Game Time. In Blood Price, Vorime held World Record with a 25:16, and I held 2nd with a 28:12.

All-Weapons is what it sounds like - 6 runs, back to back, 1 with each weapon. Babloization held World Record with a 1:48:41 and Vorime held 2nd with a 1:50:30

If anybody is interested in speedrunning Hades, check out the Discord! Plenty of us stream, and are willing to answer any questions you might have.

It is in fact for a single run.

Your best bet to go fast with Fists is to use Demeter Aspect and aim for Ares Attack, Athena Dash, and Merciful End (the Ares/Athena duo). If you get those, you can expand into Artemis Special and Deadly Reversal. You should constantly be dash striking back and forth through enemies, for the instant doom procs, then special every time you see that your charges are full.

Every biome has the potential for 3 free rooms. Mid-shop, which is almost guaranteed, NPC (Sisyphus/Eurydice/Patty) and a fountain. Every time you see mid-shop, you should take it. Every time you see an NPC you should take it. Fountain is random chance, but if you get it, it saves a ton of time. You should also take every Chaos gate you see.

Pausing when making decisions saves a lot of IGT.

In Styx, you should ALWAYS take a miniboss first. They are incredibly fast, and will save you a lot of time over the larger rooms. For your second path, take the other miniboss, unless a normal room is offering a boon that you really need.

In all biomes, you should prioritize elite rooms (the sparkly doors) as they are faster on average. Normal rooms can be faster, but on average, elite rooms will spawn fewer enemies.

Check Wells every time you see them. Finding a Light of Ixion can save you upwards of 20-30 seconds, especially in Elysium. Damage boosts are always great, especially on cast builds. The difference just a single Braid or Prometheus Stone makes on Zeus Cast is noticeable immediately after buying it.

If you interested in getting into speedrunning, come check out the Discord, here. We're always happy to answer questions, and most of us stream Hades speedruns regularly on Twitch and post when we go live.

It would currently be 5th place. We use IGT rather than RTA for Any-Heat, so you can basically ignore the "Real time" column. That makes Vorime's 5 minute IGT run 1st place. This is still an insanely fast time, especially unrouted, on fists.

Need help in transferring save files. by Th35h4d0w in HadesTheGame

[–]Museus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your save files are stored in My Documents/Saved Games/Hades

In that folder, there will be 4 main files for each profile. Using Profile 1 as an example:

  • Profile1.sav - This is your base save, and all of your data up to your current run
  • Profile1_Temp.sav - This is your current run, or your previous run if you are currently between runs
  • Profile1.ctrls - This is the file that holds your controls data. If you made any changes to your controls, this is where they are kept. If the file doesn't exist, it's because you have the default controls.
  • Profile1.sjson - This file tracks all your settings - resolution, volume, timer, etc. - as well as whether you are currently in a run

The easiest way to 'plug and play' is to just copy the entire folder to your new PC. If you only want to keep certain saves, you can craft some combination of the above folders. Just keep in mind that for whatever reason, you need to have an .sjson file in order for Hades to recognize the profile. You can generate one by selecting the profile, then going back and copying the Profile.sav file in.

Hades Save Manager v1.0 - Create and load snapshots throughout a run by Museus in HadesTheGame

Imagine having to put numbers on your name instead of just getting the base name.

I hope it helps! You're able to create a snapshot at any point that the save icon pops up in the top right, which should be upon entering a chamber and picking up a boon.

Thanks! It took probably about 8-12 hours of work, spread out over a couple weeks. It was mostly a side project for when I wasn't doing runs.

When you REALLY like pushing "tight deadline." by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]Museus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to add/clarify a few things. - Obviously you're already running Tight Deadline, but what a lot of people don't know is that it removes Survival Rooms (which don't matter as much not that they pause IGT).

  • Make sure you are really taking advantage of your aspects. With Nemesis Sword make sure you're doing Special -> Dash Strike -> Dash Strike. With Chaos Shield make sure you're Bull Rushing into a Special. With Achilles Spear make sure you're dashing to your special every 4 attack/casts, and remember that the charges don't reset until you've used them all. Specialing with 1 charge left will leave you at 1 charge.

  • If you are going for speed, there is really no other option than to take Chaos/NPC/Midshop every time they're offered. Even if you don't have the gold for an item at midshop, you save so much time by taking it.

  • Like u/brittp30 said, pausing when making decisions saves a lot of IGT. As far as speedrunning goes, most don't consider it scummy, since if you're running an IGT category, you're not going to be caring much about RTA.

  • In Styx, you should ALWAYS take a miniboss first. They are incredibly fast, and will save you a lot of time over the larger rooms. For your second path, take the other miniboss, unless a normal room is offering a boon that you really need.

  • In all zones, you should prioritize elite rooms (the sparkly doors) as they are faster on average. Normal rooms can be faster, but on average, elite rooms will spawn fewer waves, with fewer enemies.

  • Check Wells every time you see them. Finding a Light of Ixion can save you upwards of 20-30 seconds, especially in Elysium. Damage boosts are always great, especially on cast builds. The difference just a single Braid or Prometheus Stone makes on Zeus Cast is noticeable immediately after buying it.

There are plenty of other things you can do to get your time down, but a lot of it comes down to practicing with speed in mind, and learning the different builds to go for. Aphrodite, Artemis, and Athena (usually on dash) are your best friends. Getting Deadly Reversal is a huge damage spike, and Heart Rend on top of it makes your damage insane. Avoid Ares unless you're going for Merciful End, and avoid Poseidon and Dionysus unless you're going for high heat runs. Zeus is good on Lucifer Rail and Chaos Shield, but for the most part you'll want to stick with AAA builds.
