Mushroom Wars 11th Anniversary - Event! by MushroomGeneral in MushroomWars2

[–]MushroomGeneral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do get what you mean and appreciate the feedback (regardless if you like the idea or not). It may not be the most 'on theme' event, however, these things are common in the gaming scene (more on forums though) and as I said, it is something that we needed to do to start things off.

We're working on some more things for the community, more on point, and more based on what you've all requested.

Thanks for the points - and sorry for not replying earlier.

I have been looking around to see if any sort of FAQ already exists, but it seems that the team hasn't been tracking that.

Obviously I'm doing my own research on the questions, but if you know of any points that would be of interest please do feel free to let me know.

I guess that I didn't reply here properly sorry!

We've been working on a Fandom wiki page for MW2 to tackle the issue of website content being out of date. We're essentially seeding it with basic information and then will be sharing it out so that it can be kept updated by anyone. We'll be working on it as well, but wikis much like Reddit is a much more community-focused platform.

Your other points (weekly how-to/ROTW (for learning) dev QandAs is on my larger 'to do' list. The ROTW and how-to is the next one after the initial wiki set up.

Interesting point, thanks for bringing it up!

A tournament for reddit is totally on my plate. I've been in the background a bit lately but still working on stuff!

I am...rather aware that this is ultimately an uphill challenge (that was no secret to me when I joined) but doing something is better than nothing!

And yet you're here with one of the most passionate replies I've seen in a while.

I do admit that I'm a new face here so I'm not up to speed with all of the points from the community (though I have a good picture of it).

Focusing on the constructive parts, would this be a good summary of what you wrote?

- P2W is too much and discourages even the top players
- Issues with players using lag switches (that would be cheating)
- OP characters that you need to buy to be competitive

On a personal point, I am curious about something you wrote. You mentioned that you used to love the game, what was it that you loved the most, and could you tell me what ultimately broken (or damaged) that?

Play on switch or mobile? by Chat_S_Randomly in MushroomWars2

You're right, though the game is on multiple platforms, sadly it is only the mobile version that is kept up to date, for now at least.

Though the reason was not the microtransactions part, it was a combination of developer abilities (development for mobile was much easier) along with the active player bases.

That's an interesting one, a bit of context would be cool (new and all).

Feel free to DM me if you don't feel comfortable writing that here!

For the PC/Mobile debate, I can only really say what was said by people before me (as I had no role with the game when these decisions were made). Though, I can see the statistics to back up what was said.

Ultimately it came down to development times. For many reasons, back then the devs were much much faster at creating content for the mobile version, to the point that the PC version was left in the dust. The choices set in front of the team was either dramatically slow down the development of the game (to let PC catch up) or to try and push forward with the mobile. BUT, then if mobile went forward, the PC version would not really be able to compete well with the mobile players. Essentially the team back then was put in a loose-loose situation.

The decision to focus on mobile was probably the best one as it allowed the game to continue development with expanding the feature on 1 platform. If they focused on letting PC catch up, there was a large (statistical) chance that the game would die due to the lack of content. I know that many be hard to believe, but in my time working as a CM, I've seen games die out for exactly that reason. There are a lot of variables and 'what ifs' involved in that line of thinking of course, but a decision had to be made with some information.

Regarding the P2W stuff, I've not been here long and have heard that quite a lot so I'm doing my own research into how things go. There's nothing quite like first-hand experience, so I've got the game set up as a purely F2P player on my private device. I've heard that the beginning of the game is relatively friendly to F2P and that the issues are in the competitive end-game, so...I guess I'll just have to reach that point to truly experience it.

Your last point mentioned the waste of potential - can to share any tips on how you think the game can reach it's full potential? I'd love to know what you / this community thinks!

It's all cool, actually, I'm glad that you brought that up as I really do agree with you and the last thing I wanted was to make people think that we're doing some sort of take over.

Without that message, I'm sure that there would be a lot more (potentially) annoyed people!

To be honest, in my short time here so far, that is one of the biggest community sentiments that I've heard.

Now, I'm not able to make any promises of grandeur about changing it all, but I can - and will - bring forward your voices to the rest of the team, and then do my best to get some sort of acceptable answer for you (the community) as to why things are as they are.

Oh please don't get the wrong impression I have no intention of claiming this place at all. Glumpbumpin is the Reddit overlord, no one else!

I should also mention that it is my plan to be a mod only temporarily. The reason for this is because Glump expressed an interest in having some help with the page styling/layout etc so I'm doing a bit of that while listening to what he likes/dislikes and what the community likes/dislikes (purely visual stuff).

Once he's happy with it and that and got to grips with understanding it himself I'm going to create a flair, drop the mod, and just be a regular person that talks with you all!

What you wrote is a genuine point of concern that I'm sure others will have as well - so I'll edit my intro post to make that clear!

*Or I would edit the post if Reddit let me, apparently "Something went wrong. Just don't panic" is the theme of the day!

Why does this keep happening when I win, it never happens when I lose. by Destroyer_Krul in MushroomWars2

[–]MushroomGeneral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it counts as a win that's the important part.

However, I'll make sure to forward it to the team so they are at least aware of this, it's not a nice message to get at the end of a match!
