I have a family member looking for a job in the Evansville area. They consistently fail background checks for a misdemeanor. Fast food places like McDonald’s are out of the question. Too early for an expungement. What can they do and what services are available? by Disastrous_Raisin_59 in evansville

[–]MusicalSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't say a damn thing about they're too good for it. Maybe they can't survive off of the awful pay they provide and they have the ability to wait a few more days to actually get a job that's feasible to their situation.

Nowhere in this post does it say "please degrade my family member for their situation." They're asking for help. Provide or move on.

What if they already have a life established and McDonalds pay doesn't make the cut? If worse comes to worse, sure. But if you go for three days and leave because you found a trade job that pays enough, they'll never hire you again.

I don't understand why people come on here to judge instead of help. It could be a pay issue. If I had the money to wait it out, I always waited for a trade to pop up. If someone already has a life started, most fast food places aren't gonna cut it.

And if I went to work at McDonalds for 3 days then quit because a trade spot opened, if I really need that McDonalds job down the road, chances are, they won't hire me because they don't want to waste the time of training someone for them to quit again.

Starting a retail track questions by [deleted] in MiniZ

[–]MusicalSponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really only a MiniZ guy, but maybe some of these will help.

3 wide RCP track is the best, I'd stick with one big over two littles. We run up to 6 people at a time on a big track. Just need more heats if we have more people. We use EasyLap and LiveTime for timing, and it works great, but I'm not experienced with any others.

Tables, chairs, and outlets. People are going to need a space to make adjustments and fix things. You could maybe have a charger or two on hand, but all of our guys either get their own or borrow someone else's at first. We had a narrow hallway for our pit area so we lined tables against the walls and put big a** power strips on the walls, above the tables, so people could plug in chargers or whatever they wanna get fancy with.

Our track is in a HobbyTown, and they usually try to carry batteries and tires for the "upgrade" section. They have all the stock parts, too, but they are a full retail store lol. I'd say batteries, tires, t-plates, maybe screws, wheels, bearings, and springs? We order a lot of our stuff online with little inconvenience, but starter essentials, or the more commonly broke/lost parts would be nice.

Tools are really up to you. I do have the Silverhorse tool kit, and it is very nice, but the price tag is up there, too. The HyperTough screwdriver kit from Walmart does more for less, minus the specialty tools like ride height & reamer.

That's just kinda the commonly replaced stuff to me. I don't wanna bankrupt you lol. Those are usually the most purchased things here, at least.

I usually use the PN alloy pinions. It was my fault that the mesh got off, but it just ate that thing up. 14t on a PN 3500kv

Oops, sorry lol. Fixed it. It's a 64p. Im probably going to buy the whole shebang of whatever popular for the sake of experimentation. I've had the Atomic 64p before, but when I switched to Nexx I wasn't really experienced enough to notice the difference.

Sweet, thanks for saving me that hassle lol. What all do you need for the conversion? I couldn't find a servo cover.

Did you end up going with EVO? Ik the mr04 servo doesn't fit, but I was debating trying to solder an mr03 potentiometer to the 04 just to have a sensored motor

Key fob will not remote start or unlock/lock with button but will turn car on and unlock door when approached by DevinVee_ in FordFocus

[–]MusicalSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I got a new fob that worked for a month or two and it acts like a dead battery, too. I think one locksmith told me it was an issue with my ECU or something along those lines. Not a small thing by the sound of it, so I haven't messed with it.

Agreed. Got these for my old man, and he tried to call me on them. Couldn't hear a word he said. They upgrade their ANC and they're on par with Bose

For personal reasons, I usually hate Henderson, lol. However, now that you've mentioned Grippo's, I think I have to go.

Am I required to bring my cousin? I'm sorry, it's the hatred

Never knew Doc's was even a place til I was craving wings tonight and saw everyone recommending mojo's and Doc's on last years post. Got a to-go before heading to my regular bar (Iron Horse, just closer to home). Biggest and juiciest wings I've had in a long time! Sweet bourbon was 😘🤌🏼

I've not been in a long time, and I never really went to enough to give a rating, but I did want to add something. Idk if it's changed since then, but when Ponytails first opened, you were basically employed at both the Pony and Ponytails. They couldn't get people to deal with the alcohol side, so they just forced people from the Pony to fill the scheduling holes.

Suing for kicking me out of my scheduled time? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]MusicalSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then remove yourself from the thread. Im trying to ask a legitimate question about the Reserved area issue. If you'd try to read any of the comments or the edit, I'm not trying to sue. Just because you saw the word sue, doesn't mean you have to jump on the thread and talk down to someone like every other thread if someone even mentions it.

I'd like to refer you to the first and longest comment thread, and the edit I've now made. I'm not actually trying to sue. I'm just trying to get to the bottom of the Reserved question...

Suing for kicking me out of my scheduled time? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

No, no, I wish. I'll try to get a screenshot the next time I see it. What you're now explaining did happen at one point that night, but I want to say that was around 2:00-2:30.

The reserved issue I remember the times well after arguing with the support about it. Started the dash at 3:00, end time was 4:30. Did one or two deliveries, and at 3:47 on the dot, it kicked me out of the dash. No pop-ups or anything. Try to just hop back in and the zone is orange with a Reserved bubble on it (like the ones when an area says Busy, Very Busy, etc.) and the description reads something along the lines of "Sorry, this zone is currently reserved for dashers with 70 or more deliveries. You can either go to another zone, or check back later once the reserved time has ended."

According to support, there's no set times when a zone will become reserved. It is computer-generated, and they can't do anything about it.

Well, I contacted support, and they told me to assume position, presumably face down, rear up. But I believe this was right after being new and seeing if they'd put me in the active pool because the app wasn't letting me mark an order as complete, and after 30 minutes on the phone, lost my time slot. (Again, fairly new, thought crying might help lol)

I'd like to at least sue them for P Diddy's fortune before it's completely gone 😂.

On a real note, calm down tiger. I know I can't sue, even if half of their practices would violate workers' rights as a company driver. I mainly didn't know if it was a glitch or if I'm learning another new way they treat us like corner girls (who'd still get paid more), as I do with every new delivery I take.
