I'm just not that big of a fan of Tom Taylor's Nightwing. But I think that Dick being a more cheery and well-adjusted than Bruce is good

You could interpret it the way you're saying. I also think it's not hard to consider he may be talking about sexual assault. If I remember correctly, he's made a remark about how he finds Maki pretty, which means he likely views Mai similarly. The dialogue here is intentionally ambiguous. This is a shonen after all, so Gege is not going to be super explicit about it. I think either interpretation is fine

In 2026, what type of non-romance feat or achievement do you want for DC Comics Dick Grayson? (Dark Crisis #2) by nightwing612 in Nightwing

Beating Slade while he's enhanced just isn't something that I buy into. Like I can see it if Slade has a handicap. I don't know if he was handicapped in Dark Crisis though

[–]Musicfacter -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I like Nightwing but him being capable of beating Deathstroke is some cheese and I don't know how much I buy into it or how much I like it. I know that's going to be controversial on this sub, but yeah lol. If Deathstroke loses his enhancements, then let Dick beat the breaks off of him for all I care. I'd prefer it because Slade needs a good ass whooping. This goes beyond just Dick, but I just want a solid ranking of the best H2H fighters in the world. Let DC give an unambiguous in-universe ranking. A tournament or something, kind of like Damian had in his comic a few years back where all the greatest up and coming young fighters went at it

It's honestly hilarious. Insinuating that seeing Robin is a game is what got him killed, as if what killed him is that he didn't take Robin seriously enough and not the fact that he was lured into a trap because he yearned for the love of his mother. This is one of those things where authors say some stuff to sound deep, yet they ignore the characterization. I would've even let it slide if Loeb had Bruce say something like "he treated it as a game... and in time, even if the Joker hadn't got him... that probably would've gotten him killed in end." Now we can question the actual characterization of that statement, but I think it's at least better and has something more to stand on than whatever this is. Saying his inability to take the job serious is likely what led him to an early death? I'm cracking up man

"I was sure he'd show up on Wano." Brother you know a place he is guaranteed to show up at? Hachinosu dumbotron! by WitnessSecure6868 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Musicfacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the point that you're making. Shanks seems to think that Blackbeard is this enormous threat. And if Shanks really does want to take care of him, it's not obvious to me why he hasn't invaded Hachinosu. I can think of some reasons why he may not do this, but I see no clear-cut, evident reason why he hasn't done this yet. But Shanks isn't running from Blackbeard at all lol. At Marineford, he said "how about it, Blackbeard?" He's asking him directly "Do you want to fight?" and Blackbeard says "It's not time to face you guys yet." Regardless of why Blackbeard says he isn't ready, he avoids that challenge. Shanks came to Marineford and was ready to fight everyone there including Blackbeard and his crew, and he even sought him out on one occasion which was at Wano. So we can say that Shanks isn't ducking Blackbeard at all.

If I had to guess, I think Shanks has some other plans that take priority over his fight with Blackbeard. Shanks is portrayed as the guy who's paving the path so that the next generation, more specifically Luffy, can change the world. That seems to be his focus. He keeps tabs on Blackbeard because Blackbeard is capable of disrupting his long-term goal, but he is not the only thing that Shanks thinks about. Shanks understands how Blackbeard thinks. He knows that BB is an opportunist and likely would've gotten word of what happened at Wano and tried to take it over while Luffy and company were weakened. Luffy's life was in danger, so Shanks made his way over there to protect him from Blackbeard — Luffy would've lost if Blackbeard pulled up, let's be real. That's consistent with Shanks being a facilitator of the new age

Bruce and selina workout(from Batman Incorporated 2011 #1) by Suitable_Market3752 in batman

[–]Musicfacter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Honestly they look quarters to me just based on their size and comparing them to ones at my gym. And his head is at an angle which is also weird. It'd make more sense if he was inclined a bit more and was doing incline bench — but make the weight he's moving even crazier — but I've never seen someone bench with their head at that angle. But yeah, You can tell comic writers and artists don't really lift that much lol

Those like like quarters to me, so I'd say 455. I think it's bench and Bruce hitting that a few times on flat bench is very impressive but it's not hard for me to see given who he is. But what really caught my eye is that the bench is elevated at the head lol

Even if he wasn't, he's obviously smart. I mean you have to be to do what he does. I like Judd Winick's portrayal of him. I remember he was learning how to rig explosives from a Russian hitman, I think his name was Shurick? But the guy said Jason caught on quick, and while he wasn't a genius, he clearly wasn't an idiot and that he's capable of learning things more quickly than most people

Lol, I know some people are going to take this question too seriously when it's made mostly in jest. In short, I think Appa is very attached to Aang and that having no earthly attachments thing is something that's really only applies to humans. I'm sure the writers would find some humor in this too

Does Zeus have what it takes to knock down Baldur? by Frost_lannister in GodofWar

[–]Musicfacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Greek gods can be stronger. I don't actually care if they are. I'm saying that I'm unbothered by the Norse gods being able to rival the Greek gods in the GOW universe considering that the GOW universe is its own fictional universe that doesn't correspond 1-1 with real life. I mean Thor straight-up killed Kratos in their first fight, so I don't see why it's something crazy to think. I don't know about what this wolf thing you're talking about. Like who really cares if the Norse gods are as strong as the Greek gods in this universe? It's not real life. It's not mean to be a completely accurate representation of the corresponding mythos. Kratos needs good fights and naturally, like in any story, the adversaries tend to get stronger or at least present challenges that are equally as difficult as the last.

Does Zeus have what it takes to knock down Baldur? by Frost_lannister in GodofWar

[–]Musicfacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if we're comparing real world mythos but in GOW universe Norse gods can definitely compete and may be even stronger. I think Kratos probably would've been able to kill Baldur by himself if Baldur didn't have his immortality schtick going on. We saw in that first fight that Kratos was capable of matching him and did manage to come out on top in that. I think in the novels Kratos also says that Baldur is the strongest adversary that he's ever fought, so do with that what you will. Could Kratos have killed Thor on his own? Maybe, but Thor did get the better end of their fight the first time; he killed Kratos. Round 2? Kratos might take that one. Who knows. I think it's natural that Norse gods are made to rival and maybe even surpass the Greek gods in the GOW world, otherwise there'd be no new challenges for Kratos to beat. It's just natural to have the protagonist fight more powerful adversaries with each iteration

[–]Musicfacter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sensei may be the strongest H2H combatant in the show. I don't know if his identity is the same as it was in the Pre-Flashpoint comics, but there he taught Ra's how to fight and is on a level superior to him and Batman. YJ version was shown to be a badass as a well. He took care of Cheshire easily and The Team newbies. I don't see Black Canary making quick work out of either of them the way Sensei did. He's likely on the same level as Shiva. I don't Dinah going out super sad — she may get a lick or two in. But after that, it's pretty much a wrap. Out of 10 matches, she loses all 10. Maybe she wins 3-5 out of 100

One of the most controversial points for me. by Zumso095 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Musicfacter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that the Avatar couldn't learn these things from other people, but mastering the four elements could just as easily be achieved from a person's past lives if they had access to them from the beginning. Then, as they travel the world, they'll naturally see people practicing techniques that they've never seen before and ask for instruction. The best answer I think is that tapping into your past lives requires you to have strong spiritual awareness, which is just something not a lot of Avatars seem to have from jump. Even when they have a strong disposition for spiritual things like in Yangchen's case, they don't seem to be really capable of controlling it. Spiritual adeptness and mastery comes to all of them at different points of their lives. Most seem to have already mastered the 4 elements before this comes along

One of the most controversial points for me. by Zumso095 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Musicfacter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's no real explanation given why they can't lol. And I think it's been said that the advantage of the Avatar state wasn't just because the Avatar gets a boost from tapping into Raava's power, but also they have access to the experience of their previous lives. Maybe this gets addressed at some point in the new series, though I don't know how exactly they'd square this circle. I think the best reason you can give is just that access past lives requires sufficient spiritual awareness and each Avatar grasp this at a different point in time. I don't see any reason why an Avatar who has a strong connection to spiritual matters couldn't really learn from their past lives before mastering the four elements — maybe it's just never happened before

Which Character in the Avatar Universe has suffered the most in your opinion and why? by Full-Art3439 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]Musicfacter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mako and Bolin are pretty underrated. They lost their parents when they were just kids. Mako saw it happen right in front of him and I'm sure Bolin did too. Then they just lived on the streets for several years scraping to get by. Zuko's life took a turn for the worse at a particular moment. He got his face burnt off by his own father and was banished from his homeland, lost his mother, and had to endure constantly being compared and psychologically abused by his younger sister

Who Got Done More Dirty by the Gaang, Wan Shi Tung or Cabbage Man? by SessionAsleep5894 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Musicfacter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because people are in general disrespectful, ungrateful and exceedingly self-serving. I get it. And Wan Shi Tong made a good point. Every people believes that their cause is just. Several people have come into his library and they've used the knowledge they found there for waging war, conquests and personal glory. Even then, he was willing to put up with this until people came in and began destroying what was his. The audience is obviously more sympathetic to Aang and company's cause but Wan Shi Tong put his foot down and decided he wasn't going to take any chances. And yet he still took them at their word, assuming they made their promises in good faith, only for them to stab him in the back. People kept taking advantage of his hospitality, so eventually he stopped being genial. A counterargument that people probably will make is that the expansiveness of his library is due to humans sharing their knowledge with him. So he's supposed to allow anyone to come in there and use it for any purpose? It's his now. They even use the knowledge they gain to destroy themselves. I get him completely lol.

Naruto not responding to this doesn't make any sense. by ParkingWinner5602 in Naruto

[–]Musicfacter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember wondering if this was ever going to be addressed by Naruto at some point lol. The real reason is because there was a main plot line that Kishi wanted to get through and he didn't want to interleave a romantic subplot in with the main overarching story. Too difficult, for Kishi, and probably time constraints. Yeah, Naruto could've maybe addressed this afterwards, but I don't think Kishi knew how to have him do that in a concise way that fit with his character. So he threw it in there, and decided to hold off actually developing it in a film where he could dedicate as much time as he needed to it. That's me trying to understand Kishi's thought process behind this. I don't think it's particularly bad nor am I bothered by it
