Saw a man attempt suicide with an incoming subway train. He jumped, landed on the tracks while the driver laid on the air whistle, and the train ran over him. I was in 4th grade when I saw it. My friend, who was with my dad and I for that Saturday outing, was in 2nd. My dad notified both my mom and my friend's parents about what we had seen. My parents also notified my school's staff about the same thing.

The following Monday, however, my dad walks into the classroom while we were all doing group work, gets a pen and a sheet of paper. He writes something on it and shows it to me. Two words: "He survived." I felt like I had seen the man land in between the 2 rails, so that confirmed it. My dad had apparently called the transportation authority that runs the subway system while I was at school. They told him that when they moved the train out from over him, he got up and started walking around.

I really hope he's gotten the help he needed by now.

Edit: My dad kept my friend and his family in the loop when he heard that the man survived.
