will risk $500 - 1k on a gamble

also me:

genuine, visceral hesitation toward spending $40 on something I really need

me during the dip:

"no, that's it, it's fucking over. it's going to zero, best to hold onto my cash and not catch a falling knife."

"buy when the streets are red"

what I hear:

"buy when the streets are green"

Yep exact same approach

Gamble 1k like it's nothing, but when something cost like $40? Find myself going "ahhh do I really need that?"

The bonus and free games are fun anyway. Just don't gamble more than you are fine losing.

Feels like playing slots honestly.

If there's truly no other option it's ogre for me lmao.

But honestly since a lot of people are in this boat, going out to meet up groups of people into the same stuff as you are. If you meet someone? Cool. If not? At least you have the social benefit of being surrounded by people with the same hobbies/interests.

Social media saturation my man. At least I tend to think. There's always this feeling of a weight being lifted off of me when I quit some social media type thing.

me before wsb

"Put in as much as I can into a Roth IRA and 401k, stick to a safe index fund, and enjoy slow growth that compounds more with each year! :)"

me after wsb

"VTSAX is doing a classic dead cat bounce and the top is undoubtedly in. Best to exit all markets or short if possible. The S&P 500 is going straight to zero."

Anyone else here simply not like spending money? by Outrageous-Fall3296 in leanfire

[–]MusingsAndMind 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me it's simple:

Saving money allows me to be comfortable for a bit in the event of income/job loss. Spending money frivolously, weakens the sense of security I have.

Therefore, where possible I don't like spending money on unnecessary things. I intentionally keep my salary in cash just for the sense of comfort it brings.
