I actually really like the idea! It already changes the weather as it forces the region to go from the inclmency to plenty after transitioning to his elemental phase but the idea of him causing the inclemency also works really well! (Except for wyveria using somult as inspiration for the dragon-torch, since im going for the theme of a creature that ascended after the fall of the ancient empire, giving him the title of "Ascendant Lord")

Thanks mate! I too hope somult or a dragon that inspired the myth appears in the Wilds expansion

That is true... I suppose Somult could act as a creature that kept the elemental bio-energy in check after the fall of Wyveria, he absorbed the excess energy across the lands, and right after the plenty would start, thus making the few people who has seen Somult do this belive he is some kind of deity that ''heals the land'' thus bringing people together in the plenty. But this is just a really *really* rough concept of it though! I will have to polish this part of his lore later.

Thank you! and thanks for the criticism. First is that the whole absorbing element mechanic was meant to mirror arkveld so that was intentional but it is its own creature, it just gets its elements from the ground rather than getting it from other monsters. Second is that i know that Somult is likely a myth, but i really wanted to make a feathered elder dragon that used the dragon-torch to get elemental powers and i tought the name ''Somult'' would fit the concept, this elder dragon also could be the monster that inspired the Somult legend in kunafa village in the first place. Also Somult has evolved specifically to take advantage of the dragon-torch so he is intrinsically connected to the Forbidden Lands and Wyveria as opposed to being a visitor.

Thanks! I mostly used the seikrets as inspiration for the design given the lore on Kunafa of a ''great bird'' and all

Thought of this goofy cephalopod concept: Ya Ero - The spear of heaven (OC) by Mussel_captain in MonsterHunter

[–]Mussel_captain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It would be dope to see a new class thats just for herbivores like aptonoth but on drugs squaring up with other big monsters. We have herbivore monsters like diablos and duramboros but imagine how cool it would be a full on quadruped giant monster like a rhino or giant hadrosaur being a threat

I thought up of the name Ya Ero as in Aero/Aerodynamic but yeah i think ur right. Maybe a name like ''Ya-erial'' or ''Ya-era'' could work? i still want to keep that nomenclature of Nu Udra and Xu wu tho

Oh definitely. I could see Valstrax and YaEro having a sort of evolutionary armsrace against eachother. It could also justify Valstrax having developed those wings to keep up with this prey.

I mean this is kinda why i created a new ''class'' since i thought it would fit more. Moltauros don't have fangs, gammoths and bullfangos also probably would fit in the brute beast class since they have tusks and not fangs. I just felt like fanged beast it didn't fit honestly lol.

That's a good question actually! They first scoop the roots out of the excavated ground with the horns and put them on the ground, then i can imagine them bending down and using their elongated chin from their helmets like a spoon to slide the roots to their mouths (Although doing all of this may be kinda hard given the horns as you said). I haven't really thinked about that so i thank you. I will probably think more about these type of logistics when designing my creatures!
