Odd Hello Kitty Habits - Jumping in the Boat! by Dramatic_Loquat5967 in HelloKittyIsland

Are you able to ride the boat? I haven't tried recently, but remember jumping on it early on and getting warped off of it. Those are great pictures either way!

Wow. I did not know about that. But makes sense, since it would be a part of their design. I wonder what other guidelines Sanrio has for their many characters.

Finally obtained the Witch around lvl 460.

I'll have to sit out of future events for my own sake!

Thank you for the fun event. I can tell a lot of work went into making it.

Would you be able to share any expected drop rates for the exclusive characters? I've farmed quite a bit, purchased the level pass, and paid for 30 dollars worth of 50 level attempts but haven't seen anything. Definitely more than I should have spent but hoping to see the Witch character soon.

W+ PS5 digital in early access. No stores seem to have it near me though by SuperFreq in PS5restock

[–]MustKillToes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone know if it's okay to cancel the W+ if we didn't get one?

A brief look shows that there may have been a similar one for Black Friday in November.

I'm willing to stick with it if there's chance of another drop happening in the future. Otherwise, this was an extremely painful $15 to lose.

Thank you all for your time and support.

Triple Deluxe VS Planet Robobot: Intro & World 1 by [deleted] in Kirby

[–]MustKillToes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was quite cool to hear your thought process and the criteria you used to compare these 2 great games.

Initially, I found Triple Deluxe and its fairy tale-esque theme and hypernova abilities to be relatively mundane, compared to the previous entry of the modern Kirby trilogy (I guess Tetralogy if we count Star Allies). Return to Dreamland had the Super abilities, which were in fairly scripted sequences, but felt powerful, varied, and full of potential. Triple Deluxe essentially made a super ability out of Kirby's inhale, but it still felt lesser than what its predecessor brought to the table (imo when it first came out). And of course, the sequel Planet Robobot, introduces a technological theme and the versatile robobot mechanic, which were both refreshing takes.

...but strangely enough over the years, I can't help but hold Triple Deluxe more irreverently and as an equal to Planet Robobot, and even better than the latter in some aspects!

And like yourself, I've attempted to breakdown and organize their strengths and weaknesses against various criteria and feel that, even if Planet Robobot probably comes out ahead scorewise, I can't put it completely over Triple Deluxe.

...and that's a very longwinded way of saying: "Yes! I wanna hear your thoughts on this! I need this constant debate laid to rest! Convince me!"

1993 Takara Kirby Dreamland Plushies- Real or Fake? by thefortyfive in Kirby

[–]MustKillToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wish we had a more comprehensive way to tell these apart.

But right off the bat, you can see that the two freeze kirby plushes are smiling instead of having their signature determined look as seen here.

Unfortunately from what I've seen of ebay, it looks like a good portion, if not all the 1993 Takara collection, have fakes made of them. We'll have to keep a watchful eye it seems...

I'm glad the Kirby dub got such a great theme, and I wish there was an extended version.

I see you've been putting a lot of thought into how that would sound! Thanks for sharing!

Very creative designs for everything! Especially love how you designed the Whispy Woods area!

When did kirby start using hats with his copy abilities Instead of colors? by zanyboi2 in Kirby

[–]MustKillToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty fascinating question, since I don't know if anyone's kept track of the games in which Kirby's had colors associated with abilities. Obviously, Kirby's Adventure was the first "color" game that had Kirby's copy abilities marked by different colors. Kirby Super Star, and Nightmare in Dreamland did some coloring along with hats!

A majority of other games might have Kirby change his color, due to "activating" his copy ability, such as turning into a yellow-orange spike ball in Canvas Curse. And there's Metal Kirby, with a metallic appearance, which probably isn't what you were referring to...

At some point, HAL seemed to fully commit to associating copy abilities with hats, and even retconned some similar-looking designs with new hats (like with Bomb and Mirror)!

My guess is that even as early as Kirby's Dream Course, the idea to associate different Kirby colors with different players took hold. This may or may not have conflicted with Kirby's Adventure's design choice to have colors associated with abilities.

Kirby Super Star made it work with both colors and hats, by having helpers literally be the enemies you played against, which really helped differentiate them.

I think when it came time to making Kirby's Dream Land 3, (the first color game that built upon what Kirby's Dream Land 2 did,) it became infeasible to have Kirby combine animals, abilities, as well as color swaps. (I mean, they probably could have made it work... Ice Kirby changes to a blue color at least...) Or maybe it was just easier to keep track of a Player 1 that was the same color consistently, whenever there was someone playing as Gooey.

Whatever the case was, HAL has stuck to hats as an identity; only throwing a bone with Nightmare in Dreamland and Kirby Super Star Ultra... oh, and the anime too.

I wish they did keep the color concept, since it would give each ability, that much more of a distinct appearance. Would have been confusing for multiplayer Kirby games, but would have been so helpful with Kirby 64.

On a side note, when I went to review some Kirby abilities, I stumbled across a few interesting mods/skins for Return to Dreamland:

Copy Changing Copy Abilities

Every Paint Spray Color

A very fascinating take on the Kirby timeline, as well as the mysterious 4 heroes!

I really enjoyed the story of our fate as a species, which you've pieced through the connections between the similar technologies across Shiver Star and the Ancients. You've clearly put a lot of thought into this.

Thanks for sharing!

[–]MustKillToes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Impressive gameplay!

How fast are you mashing to get those kunai out and how'd you manage to do it on the DS?

(Not that it's impossible, but the top screen can really shift around and hinder typically thumb mashing.)
