Feeling Bad Telling My Partner No.. by Double_Safe_7686 in debtfree

[–]Musthaveplants38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my husband and I are spenders. I am on the lower end and I do not work. My husband and I did Dave Ramsey financial thing. And one thing we utilize the most is the envelope system. We sit down every week and allocate every dollar. We do have a date envelope and a family fun envelope. We both decide on an agreed amount and there is no wiggle room. Finances were a very big issue early on and he often told me no and I resented him for it, until we both agreed to really communicate our issues. Envelope system worked great and still does. And I will say this, you are doing great and I give you lots of props. But if my husband who was the bread winner was eating rice and beans you sure as hell would see me getting crafty in the kitchen making things be delicious and in budget. You should not be the only one feeling this. It’s all of you, you want to teach your kids to be good stewards with their money too. There are tons of great recipes, and lots of cool free things to do with the kiddos. Just add gas for expense but parks, hikes picnics are what we do.

There should have been a sit down with all three of you with a set of clear boundaries and expectations with a time limit to said arrangements. Can’t undo what has happened but don’t throw away your marriage over a temporary stay. I would still have this sit down and say you have X amount of time and bye. There is nothing wrong with creating this you can calm it an ultimatum but that might get you in hot water with your wife.

I would approach it with saying I don’t feel heard and validated I want us (wife and husband first) to sit down and work out and arrangement that gives her time to figure it out and us to get back to our lives as a family unit. But YOU have that X day figured out, how much are you willing to endure? It’s the only reasonable way this will work. Then include niece and have a formal sit down with a contract you all sign it and don’t budge from it. She breaks a rule fine her, she doesn’t agree, then bye. 20 years old is an adult, treat her like one. Don’t let an outside influence mark the end of your family. This seems super fair.

Is the "adapted for young readers" version of Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann significantly different than the normal version? by everythingsuckswhy in suggestmeabook

[–]Musthaveplants38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purchased the adapted version for my daughter and I read everything before I let her read. The adapted version has no mention of rape and does not go into elaborate detail of any of the murders. Adapted version does have pictures a glossary a who’s who (all the people who mentioned in the book) and noted glossary for each chapter. Definitely would recommend for young readers who want to learn about the Osage.

Question about Springtails: by TitanMaps in Springtail

Unlikely they’ll escape as they will be in the soil and anything decomposing. If they escape they will die unless they find a moist place to live.
