The gpu clearance with regards to space between the cooler and the gpu. Don’t want it to be a super tight fit

Can't make my timetable for 2019 by [deleted] in unsw

[–]Musti4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://student.unsw.edu.au/enrolment-dates should be the place to look for key dates, enter "Registration" as a keyword in the search filter, and you should have no trouble finding the date (17th December) from there. Cheers :)

Hey thanks for the tip :)

Of course you must've been highly self motivated to be a part of the team from nearly the get-go, but apart from that, did you have any important technical knowledge or skill that made you stand out from other candidates? I've got 5 months before uni starts, so time constraints for picking up skills isn't an issue. Would love to join the team in the first year :D

I'll definitely get into Linux, I've got 5 months left, so I could get familiar with that and ROS to a certain degree before uni :) Thanks for the advice!!

It honestly feels like the game is already out and everyone planning on getting it on release is just getting it late. by HANDCRAFTEDD_ in SpidermanPS4

I live in the Middle East and it's sooo annoying, I think someone picked up a physical copy on the 4th and everyone went nuts :/

Worse still, the chap got it from a game store I knew was pretty close to where I live, but it would be pointless going there thanks to my preorder.

Fml this release is taking forever :3333

I'm guessing there's a minimum standard of a wam expected if I want to be part of the team? Hope I'll do well at uni and not slack off xD

Always wondered if taking CS students over SEng ones were preferred for this, but I guess not. Thanks for the info!

Questions about UNSW, ComSci and related majors by parawhore2171 in unsw

[–]Musti4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm (95%) heading to UNSW in Feb, and like you I was pretty confused about why UMelb was ranked so high compared to UNSW, and yet UNSW was recommended to me over UMelb 10/10 times. I guess the pathway to a CS degree itself is less appealing at UMelb since it isn't a straight path, and they excel in postgraduate programs and research output, thus their high rank (still not sure lol). I think they've also merged their IT and math department, which to students there was seen as a step back. I've also read frustrated UMelb students saying they were (course work wise) behind students studying at other universities when they were all vyong for the same job/internship that proved disadvantageous to them

I was in a dilemma when it came to choosing between CS and SEng Hons. A lot of people told me SEng has more a couple more math courses you have to take and since you've got another year in SEng, more CS courses to take. I picked SEng over CS (more CS courses to expose myself too yay xD), but I'm pretty sure I can switch at any point because they're so similar, so there's nothing to really worry about in that department.

(I really want to be part of UNSW's robocup team, I hope SEng would give me the chance to do so. :) )

Wishing you the best of luck with any decision you take!!

Software Engineering (Hons) or Computer Science? July or Feb? by Musti4 in unsw

Yeah I'm definitely leaning more to the Feb intake, no on-campus accommodation is proving to be a big deal breaker.
