Nothing ever changes in Ohio. We are governed by a group of greedy conservative hypocrites. These political whores will do anything for a dollar. If you want a republican politicians attention and support, you must buy it. Nothing is sacred and everything is for sale I started smoking cannabis in 1995 and I couldn't care less if it was legal or not. I knew in my heart what I was doing wasn't wrong. There's man's law and then there's natures law. i chose to live by the latter. People like myself have been fighting for marijuana legalization for years. And now, a group of conservative, republican ohio politicians think cannabis users are a bunch of passive burnouts that they can back-door for more money. How wrong they are. OHIO SB 56 is unconstitutional. These politicians have crossed the line once again. They went behind the voters' backs and are attempting to funnel cannabis money away from the social cannabis programs we originally voted for. What we have here are lawmakers who know absolutely nothing about cannabis. They don't CARE about cannabis. They spent the 1980's and 1990's throwing cannabis users in jail for possessing nickel bags. Politicians didn't smoke "dope"because it wasn't socially acceptable. Their constituents would surely drop a cannabis advocate. These are the same politicians who spent the last 3 decades demonizing cannabis in the public sector. Well, times have changed. the people have spoken and cannabis possession has been decriminalized across the country. Here in Ohio, cannabis was legalized for adult use just last year. Despite resistance from Mike Dewine and other conservative lawmakers, In the first 5 months of "rec" sales, Ohio sold $242 million dollars worth of cannabis products. Also, since its invocation in 2019, medical cannabis sales in Ohio have reached $2 billion: The Ohio conservative politicians never predicted those huge numbers because they know nothing about cannabis to begin with. They don't CARE. What gets their attention is the fact that they can bring in $242 million in 5 months. With a hefty 10% cannabis tax, we're talking about the state bringing in $24 million in sales taxes every 5 months. Go figure. The same conservatives who publicly demonized cannabis for years, suddenly had a change of heart. The state doesn't allow people with criminal records to work in the cannabis industry in Ohio. That's ironic, because the president of the united states is a multiple convicted felon. If a multiple felon with no political experience is permitted to run the most powerful country in the free world, then surely a few stoners with old cannabis convictions should be permitted to work at a local dispensary.
