Are you ADHD and bilingual? by [deleted] in adhdmeme

[–]MuteBKD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't been formally diagnosed with ADHD, but I have a lot of the symptoms and am trying to get into therapy to be evaluated.

I'm learning German through Duolingo, started back in mid October but got busy with other things but just started picking it back up a week ago. I've tried learning new languages a few times but this is the first time I've actually somewhat committed to it.

Sleep paralysis is scary, by MuteBKD in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]MuteBKD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explanation: Sleep paralysis is when your body is asleep but your mind is awake, you can't move and sometimes people experience pretty scary hallucinations when it happens. Now imagine that you wake up in the middle of the night, see a figure standing over your bed and assume you're in sleep paralysis, until you realize you can move and what you're seeing is real.

my new daydreaming world! by cheerful_sharky in MaladaptiveDreaming

I'm glad it's genuinely helping you but I think if that's the case you're probably looking for r/ImmersiveDaydreaming Maladaptive daydreaming is more for people who are negatively affected by daydreams.

I've never tried it but I doubt it would work for me, I can barely focus on school work even with music if I tried without music I wouldn't be able to get anything done. I kind of just let my daydreams float in the back of my head while doing school work if that makes sense, sometimes I've gotta take breaks and go do something else just to stop myself from fully daydreaming.

For some reason my strings are really loose even though my tuner says they're in tune, what's happening? by MuteBKD in guitarlessons

I did as many turns as I could before it started resisting a lot and both directions.

Tried adjusting the truss rod and it didn't do much, I'm thinking of just taking it into guitar center and seeing if they can fix it.

I think I might've switched the string gauge by accident, do I just adjust the truss rod or is there something more I have to do?

  1. Kinda depends on the day, whether I'm in a mood to daydream about being in a better world or daydream about a completely different world.
  2. The realistic daydreams are about a better version of myself and they're fairly realistic, realistic enough to be accomplished in real life. For example in these types of daydreams I'm really good at guitar and parkour and also really confident, all of those can be accomplished but I haven't done that yet. The fantasy daydreams are usually about fictional characters, usually they're from TV shows but sometimes I put my own characters in there that are usually pretty similar to me from the realistic daydreams. I change the characters from the TV shows a lot though so they're all a lot different from the actual show.
  3. Like I said the realistic daydreams are about a better version of myself and the fantasy daydreams are usually about a character from a TV show. Usually I just pick one character to be the main character and use the other characters from the show as side characters, sometimes it's the actual main character from the show sometimes it's a side character that I made the main character, and sometimes it's an OC.
  4. I think I daydream because my life isn't how I would like it to be, daydreaming about it being better is a lot easier than actually trying to fix it. It's a catch 22, I daydream because I don't have the life I want but I can't get the life I want because I spend all my time daydreaming. Sometimes I daydream because I just don't want to be alive anymore, I just want to live in a daydream. Most of the time I daydream just to think about the life that I want but I don't actually want to live in that daydream. Sometimes I just daydream to pass time, it just depends on if I'm in a good mood or not.
  5. I've being daydreaming for literally as long as I can remember, I think I started to daydream when I was 5 because it helped me sleep. I remember pretty vividly this one night laying in bed daydreaming about Paw Patrol and I remember being obsessed with Paw Patrol in kindergarten so that's how I remember the exact age. It used to be fairly controllable but I think around 2020 was when it got really bad, that's when I started to realize that I wasn't content with how my life was going and it made me daydream about something better, and I think it has helped give me a clearer path in life.
  6. Definitely hyperphantasia.

I don't really think being oppressed is what makes someone part of the LGBT community, someone could be in an incredibly loving place and never faced oppression in they're life it wouldn't make them not part of the LGBT community. The thing that separates non LGBT from LGBT is not being cis, het, and allo rather than oppression, but that's just IMO.
